I saw N95 here in one of the shops. Excellent phone for its size. the phone is available with the shop in stock.

Guys I was planning to upgrade from my nok 6630 .. I was thinking of the Ming earlier. The rokr has the same functionality but some extra music functions and the better looks.

I really don't need a phone with the music functions coz i have an ipod. But I am looking for a 2 mp camera at least. And the pda type functionality of the ming with its price point is pretty attractive.

Could someone pls comment on the rokr vs. the ming. The ming has been in the mkt for some time now so any other phones out there with 2 mp and pda functionality? (and yeah with the ming price point of 15k thrown in as well )

Pls help..

A1200 has been one of the biggest linux phone sellers for motorola. Infact according to our salesboks, A1200 has sold more than N73. Its available in Red,black and white. I personally like the black model most.

E690 aka ROKR E6 is just a fusion of two lineups. E600 series and E300 series. ROKR Series E1( with itunes based on E398) has been a failure while E398 was a super success. LInux came in at a time when Motorola OS had reached the bottom of the pits. next came linux with chameleon UI based ROKR E2 but only had moderate sales. Enter ROKR E6 aka E690. Its a music phone based on LInux (All new motorola phones will be based on Linux UI)

both A1200 and E690 run off monta vista linux. I have used E680i and I can vouch that its a nice phone to have. If you learn to mod the hell outta it, you have a magic wand in your hand.

E690 highs are- dedicated music buttons, 3.5mm jack and a SD card slot.

A1200 highs are- superb flip design, Quad-band and excellent Chinese implementation (you need to learn Chinese for that)

Camera on both are same and so is the stereo bluetooth implementation. I have used Siemens HHB-750 and plantronics stereo bluetooth devices with AVRP support on A1200 and both worked flawlessly.

Radio on both is mediocre and crackles and loses signals easily. radio cant be heard on stereo bluetooth also but Music on stereo bluetooth is excellent.

My vote: ROKR E6 for music, A1200 for everything else.

is there a successor planned to the a1200?
I knw its a great phone coz ndtv also voted it over the pearl and p990i for pdas in 2006.
But since it has been around for some time, I am a little hesitant.. the rokr does look a tad better though.

One question - I was also a little apprehensive of the flip cover- since its transparent plastic, aren't the scratches going to be very obvious?

And another question - b/w n73 ME and the rokr, is the rokr a good option as a music phone?

Just bought a E6 ROKR. Just like Mayank, i was between minds as to whether to pick up the Ming or the E6. The ming retails for 3 grand less than the E6. I was leaning towards the ming as I like the look of it plus its clamshell. However, on using both, I found the flip cover a real pain to open, unless you have nails like a girl. Also, I found the functionality of the E6 better as it uses regular SD cards (comes with a 1GB card in the box), has a 3.5 headphone jack (so I can use regular headphones) and it has USB 2.0 which allows for superfast transfers.

'm still getting used to the phone and using the touchscreen for everything. Will let you know how it is after a few days. However, initial views:
Pro's:
- nice, slim design
- menu system is fast and easy to use.
- most functions can be brought up with your fingers, no need for the stylus.
- Reception seems to be as good as my K750i
- Picture quality is as good as the K750 as well.

Cons:
- SMS'ing is going to be a pain as the onscreen keyboard is too small to use without the stylus.
- Rear battery cover is not a great fit. I feel it moving a bit.
- cannot minimize all screens at on go. must close all applications one by one to get back to the home screen.

Bought it for Rs.17K with bill & warranty. Got Rs.6,500 for my old phone.

Rtech, push the end button and you will be on the home screen. IF you ever want to close the apps just press end button again and again and each program will open one by one.

Congrats on the phone though. ITs a nice one and you will enjoy it.

Thanks for the tip Dev. Still have to get used to the tricks here.

Mayank, it does syn with Outlook (or it says so on the manual), still getting that set up though. I'm not going to use it for email though, just to sync my address book and calendar.
