I am looking for a mobile with a relatively good camera. It should be atleast 2 MP. Also one of the requirements is that in silent mode, camera should not make the shutter sound (not that i want to take pics of my gf without her consent

)

Any suggestions?

All nokia camera phones have the option of switching off the shutter sound.
So depending on your budget 2MP phones cost from 12K-40K(3.2MP).
If you go for N series you get 3.2MP camera.

My budget is upto 15k. Of course, the cheaper the better.

So what fits in here?

N72 has a 2 MP camera , pretty good quality for a phone camera. Off course for a couple of grand more you can get the Sony 790 that has a 3.2 MP camera.

Head of to a multi brand store. Pick up a few phones and see what you like.
There are lot of phones in this range, but what features may be important to you may not be important to me. So choose yourself.
My brand preference is Nokia, Samsung and LG, due to my ownership experience, your may be different.

So if one were to compare the camera specs and camera features of N73 and SEK790, which one takes the cake?
I guess N73 is 3.2 MP?
And how much do they both cost

The SE has Image stabilization, for both video and Still imagery.
Nokia has better third party application support(Series 60 has lots of software).

tsk : 790i and N73 both have Image stablization only for VIDEO and not still images. I think if you get into the pure photo quality aspect then IMHO 790i/800i is slightly better but as a very all phone + camera + music, N73ME is better.

hows the SE Z 710i ? and how is it compared to the W 710i ? whats the difference between the two ?

basically the same. the w710 is part of the walkman series while the z is normal.

I am planning to buy a phone with budget of about 10-12k (lower the better).
The main feature i will be interested in is its music capabilties,it should have best sound quality.It should also support biggest size memory card available,at-least 2GB but 4GB will even be better which wont be possible IMO.I would also prefer better looking phone.
camera is optional as i will be buying Canon S3 very soon but i suppose most phone with this budget will have 1.3-2mp camera.
other features like BT stereo/BT/IR/EDGE/3G/Video recording etc are not really necessary.

So basically i have selected SE W700,recently launched SE W610 and LG Dynamite[KG300].The LG300 is in list coz of features it has for the price.W610 looks very nice and with loads of features but it lack mega bass feature[W700 has] and dealer dunno its price.

So guys need your help fast as i am planning to buy it today or tomorrow.
And any idea which phone under 15k is- compatible with at-least 4GB memory card?Is there any?

I would recommend the w700. the package is excellent. Plus its a durable phone too. Sound quality is a virtue like all other Sonyericsson phones. And If I am not wrong there is a scheme going on right now where you get free reebok shoes.

I would vote out LG just because their OS is not as easy and advanced as Sonyericsson. Even the software music player is miles ahead on sonyericsson.

W610 is an option if you are more comfortable with a candy-bar phone. Fitness aplications are a plus on w700.

I would recommend

w700
w610
Lg

in that order.

Thanx dev,any idea about the price of W610 in India?Local dealer was not sure of its price.
W700 was quoted for 10900 with b/w but not with Reebok shoes.

These comes with w710,a flip phone acc. to dealer.If performance,SQ and price of models is almost same i will go for 710 then but it should be slightly expensive.

I may well be buying today evening so keep on coming with ur feedbacks plz.

Does the K790i make shutter sound in silent mode? I am asking this because all the SEs i have owned till now didnt have the facility to switch off the shutter sound.
