Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hi, Has anyone purchased the new JioBharat Phone introduced by Jio recently? Apparently, there are 2 models - 1 made by Karbonn & 1 by Jio themselves. Both cost 999 Rs.

I was wondering if anyone has purchased any of this & how is the phone. Looking for a 2nd spare phone for my mom.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

It's been more than 2 years since I got my Samsung S20FE and as is expected, I have been infected with the itch for a new phone

After using the lack luster camera of the Sammy, I was looking at the Vivo X90. At that price point 50-60K, what would be a good phone to buy these days?

A macro lens would be amazing to have.

This is to confirm that call recording (without announcement) is only available in Samsung mobiles right? I am upgrading to 80k Camera phone but need call recording hence asking.

I have been using Samsung Phones for last 4-5 years and I can confirm that call recording works only if you disable "WiFi Calling' feature. If you keep WiFi calling ON, then it can't record the call, as WiFi calling uses some kind of Google's service which restricts call recording.

There are tricks to disable call recording announcement on other phones.

This is what I used to disable the announcement on my old Realme.

Something similar should work on other brands as well.

Unfortunately, I use a Google Pixel now and that one doesn't even have the record button so stay away if you just *cannot* live without the recording feature. Otherwise as a camera phone it is excellent and 80k should get you the Pixel 7 Pro.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hi All, looking for a mid range phone around 15k for my mother. Primary requirements are 5G, good stereo speakers and screen as she watches lot of youtube and video calls. The speaker should have good clarity and loudness. Any suggestions please?
Thanks in advance.

I would suggest, instead of replacing a mobile every 2 year, buy something on top of the line like Samsung S23 series or iPhone or Vivo x90 pro and use it for 4-5 years.

Buy a mobile
  • Top ranking camera - check sites like DXOMARK
  • Released with-in last 1 year - Ensures regular OS/Security updates
  • Memory size of above 256GB - Ensures your mobile does not run out of memory

This will ensure your mobile will be capable even after 4 to 5 years.

To make your mobile feel fresh, swap the case/covers regularly and switch themes and wallpapers.

With the BBD sale coming, I am planning to upgrade my phone to a premium category. My usage is simple - chats, calls & emails. Games & media is taken care by my S8 Tab.

I am considering the below phones:

iPhone 15 (basic)
iPhone 14 plus
Samsung S23
Asus Rog 7 (wild entry)
Google Pixel 7 pro

Inclined towards iPhone as I wish to drop my habbit of changing my phone every 2 years. Considered the Flip 5 but then post the flip novelty, there is nothing different to keep me hooked for long. And at the same price, I can go for iPhone 14 plus. Compared to Flip5, Moto Razr ultra felt cheap (built quality) & pricing is similar.

Would suggest the latest iPhone 15 as you intend to keep it for long. With iPhone 15, you can be rest assured of 4 software updates (or maybe even 5)
Moreover, the new 15 will have quite a few new features than the 14.

Looking to buy a mid-range Android phone. Main requirements are camera, battery backup and brand.

How is One Plus Nord 3 CE ? The reviews vary widely, especially with respect to camera and battery performance.

Anyone using this model, please let us know your feedback.

So after lot of pondering and dilly dallying, i went left off field and got myself the Nothing Phone 2.

Just getting used to it. Disabled the glyph because i see no point but the transparent back does look cool.

The Nord series is notorious for over-heating and lags. It's actually quite appalling that these new One Plus phones are not how they used to be earlier. I would advise you to check out Samsung S21 FE 5G; there are always some sweet deals on this one.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Does the S22 Ultra support two physical and one eSim at the same time?

I have two Airtel numbers and want to get an additional Jio for use in places with low Airtel presence.

Please help as googling gives very less information on this.
