Hi,

Not really. I left the phone turned off for the night. Next morning, I gave it another go and it started charging. Left it until 100%.

Now, I cannot charge the phone if the battery level is between 15-70%. I am saying this coz I have checked in this range. If I try the phone starts beeping (charging on - off) which actually discharges the battery.

I have not tried it between 70%-99%. Below 15% is when I put it on charge and no issues. I'd rather use it this way than give it to any repair centre, who I do not trust anyway.

I just hope it last me till Diwali/Xmas, when the online stores will have their big sales and I can think of replacing it.

Good Luck.

Friends, Need to buy a basic phone for father. Budget around 3-3.5 K. He is not a data user in phone. But a reasonably good camera is needed. Kindly suggest.

I tried searching on Google, but didn't get through. Where to get the Nexus devices looked into? My erstwhile Nexus 5 has this tendency to randomly switch itself off. I believe it has some issues with circuit/motherboard.

LG service center. My friend got his screen replaced at an LG authorised service center.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

A lot of phones are available as of today but there is no "one" perfect phone.

I'd like to see the following features:
  • Long battery Life : Should last 2-3 days atleast
  • Water, shock, dust proof.
  • Operable by one hand.( Can even be a physical key phone)
  • Does not slow down over time.
  • Decent to look at. It shouldn't pull all the eye balls at any official meeting etc. (All black would be even better)
  • Shouldn't need updates etc.
  • Should be able to transfer contacts from Iphone/Android using a PC perhaps.
  • Don't care if it doesn't have email, or data or whatsapp. Need a phone to SMS and talk.
Basically a rugged second phone to keep me connected vocally for day to day business. It gets harrowing when I need to talk regarding work in the evening and the 5S shuts off!

Anything out there like this or anyone using their phone for a similar usage?

Using the S7 (non edge) since April and I second your opinion although I'm not sure about it being drop proof, especially without a case.

I've been with the galaxy series before. They don't confirm to the following 3 points-
  • Operable by one hand
  • Does not slow down over time
  • Does not need updates

It's been just a couple of weeks for you. 6 months and when the new galaxy will be announced, this one will suspiciously start getting slower. I've observed this over the years using Samsung, Sony and apple phones. And due to this speed issue I have changed a lot of phones.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Okay so my predicament continues further. I had almost made my mind up and decided to go for a Nexus 6P 32GB, costing me around 34k. However, I came across few sellers on eBay, who are selling the LG G5 Imported for around 37k. Now really stuck considering whether should I get a LG G5 or a Nexus 6P. Again the camera is a massive priority. However, I have never bought or used an imported phone in India, so that is another dilemma I am facing whether it is a safe bet or not. Any suggestion will help massively

Irrespective of your requirements and the authenticity of the eBay deal you've mentioned, the G5's Snapdragon 820 alone is worth the extra 3k.

Why not get one of those feature phones by Nokia/MS which includes contact transfer via USB? They have very decent battery life.

That is actually now the plan to get a simple feature phone as the primary use phone.

Any suggestions as to which ones support contact transfer via USB?

Why not to give a try to the great iconic Moto RAZR V3i?
