I called flipkart to check if they are shipping the new design but they didnt knew about it.

Can anyone else confirm this?

As far as I know this update came few months back. Hence it will be included in India devices. Devices to India should be packed seperately hence they cannot take up any old device and do that. And with waiting list of Nexus 4 in general, chances of having old inventory is very less.

Brought one for my SIL and she loves it.

The phone is fast, looks nice (premium) and has good display and is much better (spec wise) to Karbonn and MMX models available at the same price point.

I felt the design also looks better, but that is a subjective matter. And oh, the phone ships with Android 4.2.2.

After using a rock solid W500 for 6+years, I replaced it with a Nokia 1280 for want of simplicity, lesser weight and slimmer form factor. However, 6months into the phone, the thing died on me and is currently with Nokia Care. It looks like the quality of monochrome phones has gone for a toss. Even during use I never liked how cheaply built the phone was compared to the previous monochrome phones I owned.

Can someone recommend a solidly built, rugged, button phone within 5K that I can use eyes closed for the next 5 years? Do they even make things like the 1100 anymore? I don't need music, or FM, or games, or apps, or even polyphonic ringtones. All I need is to make and receive calls, send/receive SMS without the device falling apart. I like how the Motorola i365 looks on paper, but it's a CDMA phone.

You can choose either of the two: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3...&idPhone2=4354

I want to buy a phone within 10-11K range.
I am not able to decide whether to go for Android or WP.
I wanted to go for Android for its Apps. But on reading on Android thread, that 4.1 JB onwards, the apps will get installed on Phone memory only and cannot be moved to SD Card.

I was using Samsung B7300 WP 6.5 (bought on 16-7-2010) which used to freeze (hang) frequently. The SASC could not solve the issue even though I gave it thrice mentioning same problem.
Currently using brother's Xperia X10 with Android 2.3.3. I myself upgraded it from 2.1 or 2.2 (Don't remember) using Sony Update.

How much of performance would get affected if I install plenty of apps on an Android Phone?
Or should I go for WP instead? But here are there Apps identical to And. Market?
Or should I wait for some time?

Also how good are Less Popular Brands like iBall, Intex, Karbonn, Lava, Spice, Xolo, etc?

I am in no hurry to buy the phone. Might be within 3-4 months. But want to discuss now so as to know what options do I have.

For those looking for feedback on India Times: Received the IPhone 5 yesterday which is exactly one week from date of order on India Times Shopping. Was the same even for the Sony ZL earlier this month.

Happy to see that we think in same lines when it comes to phones. I have been using my 1280 and have been a very happy customer.

For the next phone - take a look here - http://www.flipkart.com/nokia-asha-2...d-d1455aae41d9

not sure about the 5 year part, I do not think any phone have that good build quality now a days :(

I was in a similar situation a few weeks back.
Unless you are a game junkie on mobile phone, it doesn't make much difference whether you are on android or windows phone.

The look and feel of each OS is different, and the levels of integrations (contacts/calenders etc). Android is more geared towards your gmail account, and Windows phone is geared towards your hotmail/live/outlook account.

So first decide: which look and feel you prefer.
My wife already had an HTC Android phone, and I like the WP look more. Also I have hotmail account since 1999, and thus I am more comfortable with hotmail rather than gmail (contacts etc).

Second, your budget is fixed. At this budget Nokia WP offers the better spec. For androids, you will have to look towards Micromax and Lava etc if you want really high end specs. Large brand Androids at this price range offer 1-2 years old hardware. But then again, this will not matter as much, as long as you are able to run your applications smoothly (which even the low end spec ones do). So do you really want to run after the latest specs?

Hello team! Is it worth buying an iPhone 4 for 24k odd in this day and age? Not a big android fan and nothing looks better than an iPhone to my eyes. Please advice people!

Thanks, I'll take a look at that, but it looks quite flaky (and plasticky) from the pictures.

I have not been happy with the 1280's keypad. It's really impossible to have an SMS conversation. The keypad on my SEW550 was excellent.

The problem with simple phones in today's world are that they're cheap. They don't make good quality simple phones at all. If someone could make an all metal body rugged phone with mechanical-keyboard like buttons (like on a BB) separated with sufficient spacing, a monochrome display, a torch, an extended antenna, and a high capacity battery I'd be ready to put down 10K or more for it. But the problem is that people see anything that isn't feature packed to be from the late 90s. For most of us, "more" is better, even if it were a crappy 1.3megapixel (the Asha 206) or a horrible touch screen (cheap Micromax).

Aah, well. I think I'd rather settle for a second hand blackberry (for the keyboard).

Absolutely. What I mean to say back there is, as Motorola is no more in sale officially, as a part of stock clearance we are going to get steal prices.

Even for other brands also, discontinued products sometimes comes at steal prices. Last week i got a S Advance (i9070) at 13k for my dad.clap:

I am interested in getting a motorola if I get such a good deal, I couldn't find such deals anymore, help me out please: I was initially thinking of getting basic phone but now for such deals I could extend my budget up to 10K and replace my galaxy

Hi, hellmet, go for Nokia Asha series. There are 2 qwerty models one with plastic body and another with metal. These are 5k or thereabouts. I guess some 200 series. Dont go for qwerty with touch for your requirements. Both are dual sims if i remember correctly but that doesnt mattter I have seen both being used in my family. They do the job very well.

PS - I am replying using my old cellphone, unable to quote and see some older replies so apologies if I am writing something that has been already mentioned.

Bought my wife a Samsung Grand Quattro yesterday for 16,500/-. She was using a Sony mini earlier which served well for almost 2 years. I have not yet explored it fully, however from what little I have, I think it provides great value at that cost.
