Hello,

I purchased a Sony Xperia E for my father on Monday through homeshop18 superdeal for 8755/- (Discount of 1200 INR).

I had considered 3 phones, Samsung Galaxy Young , Lumia 520 and Xperia E.

The windows apps marketplace is said to have far too less apps and games as compared to andriod so lumia 520 went out of the way. While Samsung galaxy young felt too plastic for my liking and had a 3.2 inch screen as compared to 3.5 on Xperia E. The camera on xperia E was crisper and clearer than that of the young.

The phone is not dispactched yet though and i am getting impatient.

Bought myself a Micromax A116 from a B&M shop in Bangalore. Paid INR 14500. My second MMX. Initial impressions are fantastic!.

Which was your first MMX phone? You must have been pretty satisfied with that one to go for another MMX. Just gathering info about how reliable MMX is now days.

How is this for Reliability...
My Sister bought a MMX A87(Android 2.3 .....4 inch Screen.....1GHz Snapdragon) in Sep 2012 for 6K
and today, the battery is swollen like a balloon.
One minute, it shows 100% battery...
Disconnect the charger, open the browser, it shuts down
That should give you the idea of the battery life that remains

Surprisingly, MMX batteries are not freely available in the market(or online).
Have to go to the service center, order it.(yes, order a Rs 400/- part)
and then wait for it(1-2 weeks).

The battery is out of warranty as it is over 6 months.
But this was not expected, not at least till 2 years from the date of purchase.

It would take a miracle for me to recommend a MMX to somebody.

I have personally experienced this and that's why the worry. But honestly for 14.5 K smart phone, all I am expecting is a trouble free ownership for 1 year. Hopefully that is not a big ask.

I recently got a galaxy grand for my dad, it costed me net 18.5k. Which in my opinion is awesome deal and If you want peace of mind, Go ahead and buy Grand.

Even i had Canvas HD in my mind, But poor camera and questionable long term reliability of the device, worked in favor of grand.

I bought it in November 2012. Still going strong and I use(d) it extensively. Battery backup is just like it was 6 months back. The phone is rooted and on custom ROM.

What is the current market price for the Note II? Any stores (physical or online) that offer 0% interest EMIs? I am aware of the 15% cash back offer but I do not have an ICICI or Standard Chartered credit card, I have a Citibank credit card.

Best offer I could find is ebay.in which was offering the phone for Rs. 34440/- + 861/- processing fees for 6-month EMI option.

Does any one remember Nokia 6100 ?
It came in the market around 2004-2005, and then got discontinued.
It was the first phone that i had and have some strange liking to that phone which make me search for a nokia 6100 even after having a iPhone 4s.
I have searched online and Could not find any good deals.
There was a refurbished 6100 on ebay.in from Rs.2700 but the seller didn't reply to the mail i sent him
Nor did he send me the original pics of the phone.
All other deals on ebay US/UK are coming out to be very expensive (nearly 5000 INR) because of the shipping.

First of all can somebody suggest me, is it worth spending money on a refurbished and discontinued phone ?

Can someone guide me a place in delhi apart from gaffar market (they only sell crap in the name of old phones) where i can find a gud condition refurbished phone ?

Lol. The lambo case costs some €4 or so. The logos are cut out of metal and are of high quality. The rest is made of high quality plastic. Bang for the buck it is.

I have a nokia 6610i which looks only a little bit different and has a camera(CIF)

BTW, if you really want to spend money on vintage phone, buy an iPhone 1st gen in working condition. Keep it for 50 years and then sell it for a million dollars.
and it would be very difficult to use the old phone. For eg: in my 6110i, the 0 key needs to be pressed very hard to make it work. The battery is on its last legs. Only kept as a spare phone just in case if need be

But actually i have a thing for Nokia 6100 which makes me think of buying it again.
Its just so elegant and smart :p

I made a few mistakes which i regret now, selling off the nokia e90 was one too.

What do you think ?
Is spend money on an old phone which is refurbished (just like new) worth or not ?
