Nah! This is for my wife. She is torn between S3 and IP5. IP5 is too expensive and moreover she likes the S3 way better too.

She's still in double mind. Hence, not in a big rush to buy.

I am happy in my dinasour world (Blackberry) and she is fed up with her blackberry

Does it makes sense to spend 15k on it? please help me make a decision
btw am planning to buy the phone from "flipkart"...
no baba, just wait. 710 is on sale almost every month on HS18 for like 12.5k or such.
(610 every week)

My wife read the reviews and now we're reaching out to every US-returning friend - it is HALF the SGS3 price

My guess is 22-27K for 8GB/16GB. My calculations are based on the premium charged for the nexus 7 tablet. $199 for nexus 7 in US whereas India it's Rs.19,999. So for the nexus 4 $299 should be around Rs.22-23K.

US is still the best place to get it. $299 is just too tempting.

The Nexus 4 though the best and fastest droid, has got some glaring limitations:

1. No expandable memory, 16 GB will not be adequate in future.

2. Non removable battery. If the phone freezes on you, it will be as good as a fancy paperweight.

3. No support or warranty in India, in case Google decides not to launch it in India just like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

4. No FM Radio.

5. Gorilla glass on front and back of the phone. Infact the phone is covered in a layer of glass. May crack or break easily if you accidentally drop it.

But the thing runs on a 1.5 gig quad core snapdragon and comes with a whopping 2 gigs of RAM. Very tempting for $349 for a 16 GB variant.

I am torn between the Nexus 4 and the Atrix 2 (superb value for money at 18k). Is it worth waiting till late January for the Nexus 4 (it's difficult to find someone going to the US before that because of the thanksgiving, christmas and new year holidays)? By that time, I fear the Atrix 2 may disappear.

All these 5 points apply to the iphone 4/5 as well.

The iphone 5 now has 2 small glass panels on top and bottom instead of all glass back like iphone 4.

Atleast the iphone comes in 32/64 GB variants too AFAIK. Also, were not the iphone 4/4S officially available in India locked with Airtel? In such a case, don't you get official support/warranty?

Since the phone is LG branded, won't there be warranty provided by LG?

For the price of an unlocked version of iPhone 5 of 32/64GB you can get 2 LG nexus 4.

Tau, If its the SGS3 you are talking about, do keep in mind that the US SGS3 has hlaf the number of cores on the processor as well But yeah it has 2 GB of ram too.

As I posted elsewhere, I am super confused between Nexus 4, SGS3 & Note 2.

Are you married to Android?

Galaxy Y for instance is a crappy phone with 320x240 screen, its only redeeming feature is the processor.

instead 610 gives you a 800x480 screen in a phone that's quite good, and better with battery than android. though yes, you can't play angry birds on it yet !

android ain't no magic bullet.

hunji, saw that. Note 2 is ginormously big no? Personally i would not consider any phone more than 4-4.3" else i'll be worried about it slipping out of my shorts etc

nexus 4 is ideal. uber cheap. What do you want? To take baby's life in this money?

May I confuse a bit more?

http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_droid_razr_hd-4971.php

Take a look at the new Droid Razr HD. It's got the same chipset as S3 albeit 1GB RAM. Battery is bigger 2530mAh and the phone looks and feels awesome. I got to try this and my S3 side by side and man the S3 just felt cheap. The CF finish back panel and solid feel of the Droid just owns the S3. It was also very snappy to use.

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hi. I'm looking for a voice chat over wi fi capable phone(Dubai to Blr). A quick search returned Spice M6800, MM A25 and Huawei U5510, but I'm not sure if they're Skype, Gtalk or any other voice chat app/software compatible.

A friend said that all android phones are Skype compatible irrespective of the brand and model. If you can confirm that, I'll get the MM A25 right away. I actually wouldn't mind one ordering one from DX, since I won't be putting a SIM in it(IMEI).

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
