@Navin as Ram indicated. Swype is available on N8, that I did not know about. It is very easy to send SMS, an intuitive software for text entry. It takes almost half the time on swype than to type on iPhone. The only gripe I have against N8 is the software is cumbersome, I guess with time every one adjusts.

@Raj The symbian software is no longer intuitive as the 40 series. He should try iPhone.

I am still searching for a solid/nice finishing built simple dumb phone. Anyone?

Since many are suggesting iphone, i will recommend him that. Buy he wont buy the iphone 3GS & I doubt he will buy the iphone 4 costing more than 50k. Its not worth that money & both of us agree.

What is Swype? How and Why does it make a touch screen easier. I prefer a tactile keyboard and I assume my wife who is even less of a techie than I am would to. Still we are going to try the iphone and N8 this weekend.

Hmmm... Let me try out Swype on the N8. The touch keyboard is a bit moody, to say the least. The right arrow is too close to the space bar, resulting in reaching the first character of text sporadically (right arrow at the end of text rolls back to first character). Not sure if I will like ballet dancing my thumbs with Swype - nothing like tactile keyboard, but no harm trying.

I believe it is the SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro that has the QWERTY keypad. The Mini model doesnt have QWERTY.

Thank you kpzen- added Samsung Monte also in the list.

more inclined towards sony.
however kindly suggest the best option.
I think nice selection is made by zoom2_ash. Well I think after Nokia, Sony is the most reliable one in India. If asked for my suggestion I will go for Sony Xperia. Nice look, light weight with all of advance features. One thing I like most about Xperia is that it work well with all types of navigation softwares.

Nokia C6-00 has a 5MP camera with auto focus (but no carl zeiss optics), QWERTY keypad (along with touch screen) and obviously memory card slot. Price around 13-14K only, but looks solid and upmarket.

Anybody using C6-00 here ? Reviews please.

All touch keybaord are and hence the dilema. Of touch phones the iPhone has the best implementation of a touch keyboard but it has an average camera in which case the BB Torch becomes an option with a nice keyboard.

A colleague bought C6-00 yesterday. The slider is notchy and has lot of play. The camera inspite of being 5MP is strictly average. The phone looks and feels platicky and is heavy. Overall, money not well spent. Try Garmin Asus A10 instead.

It is the method of inputting text by swiping through the screen without taking your fingers off. Seen in most of the Samsung touch screen phones by default. This App is still in Beta stage but works pretty well. It also automatically learns new words as you type.

Another very useful application available from nokia betalabs is Nokia Situations. It can change your profile based on the surroundings by identifying the network cell, gps position, wifi / bluetooth availability etc. Very useful app.

Ok N8 users and geeks any idea this one would get a MeeGo port? Only thing stopping me from buying the N8 is the OS.

Have googled this and the answer is no. Someone thinks other wise?
