GPS in E72

I have a query.

I bought E72 yesterday from Univercell. It is working fine but for the non-working GPS. When I contacted Univercell guys they tried to establish it right but failed.

Finally they threw their hands up saying that it did not work in Chennai because it was not covered by the GPS satellites.

This cannot be true. Can anyone from Chennai with E72 pl confirm if their GPS is working or not.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone from Chennai with similar experience with their E72?

Jassi, the main issue is that I am in love with this phone. I want to explore all possibilities for a couple of days before I am forced to throw it back at Univercell.

But, rest assured, I will not put up with any second class treatment and do what must be done.

But what to do till then.? Any hints guys?

GPS works just fine on E72. It does have problem (most phones do) if you are inside the house. TRY to connect with GPS in an open area. It takes around 1-2 mins to connect.

Some site said that upgrade to the latest firmware will solve these glitches. When I tried connecting to my PC via PC Suite the cable connection was not even recognised. So now I have no means to communicate with the E72.

Anyone facing similar troubles with their E72.

Ask for a refund. Or threaten to take them to consumer court. If UniverCell says that it does not work, there IS some problem with the hardware.

List tbhpians from Chennai and pick 10 at random. I bet that at least 5 will have GPS phones working in Chennai.

Have you tried taking up the issue with Nokia through their website? Register on MyNokia first, and then login to log a complaint.

Guys, need to buy a phone for my sister. Could you comment on which is better - Nokia's 5800 XM or Samsung CorbyPro?

My cousin was in same dilemma and he gifted his sister CorbyPro.

Both are good and have equal amount of features WiFi, GPS, 3G etc.

Nokia is equipped with Smart phone OS and might have better music capabilities.

I intend to buy a USED mobile handset within a range of Rs. 4500. Can anybody suggest which model can i get in this price bracket. I am keen on buying a Nokia handset with Symbian as a OS. For how much can i get the Nokia N73, N95. Also please DO NOT ADVICE TO GO IN FOR A NEW HANDSET as i recently purchased a Nokia 5130 XM for Rs. 5300 that too after consulting this thread. I am satisfied with it but as it is not mine and the features are not that great for this price i am willing to purchase a used one for myself.
BTW how is the good old Nokia N70. Is it a good buy if i get it at mere 3000 bucks

How does the S/W interface for managing music, syncing calendars etc. compare between Samsung and Nokia.

I would advise you stick to only Nokia in case you going for used segment. For your rage of 4500, u can get N95 too for your budget. I sold one for 4850, 2.5 yrs old. I bought it for 100 GBP from London. If Lucky you can get your hands on Nokia E51 for about 4500-5000. But all depends on the quality. So you need to check in local stores.
