E72 is a very good handset. I would suggest you also look at Curve 8520. It has almost all features; decent cam, wifi, etc. and also you can save a lot as its for about 14,000/-

We are now getting a lot of cheap business phones. They are all sub Rs.5000 but not many features. All are dual SIM. Is anyone here using them.

Mods kindly resize the pictures. Thanks

@Live_to_jive - I would not touch Intex of Motorola products with a bargepole; but for very different reasons. Intex for build qualify, and Motorola for their user unfriendliness.

I do have even the 8520 on my mind. But i thought might as well stretch the budget and get a newer model. I like the E72, but im just wondering if i would miss a BB after having a budget of 18k.

I have a (similar) peculiar problem. My computer with Vista Home O/S has stopped detecting my phone (W810 i) when I connect with a data cable, but the phone detects the pc and goes in to file transfer mode. I have loads of pics to transfer from the phone to pc but unable to do so. What could be the problem?

The phones are from Micromax, Intex and Zen. I agree that Motorola is not user friendly. Coming back to these phones, they lack a lot of features like GPS, Wifi and they're just dual band. But they have dual SIM. For some users they're perfect because they never use the missing features. After all what can you get for under Rs.5000/-.

Hi!

I am looking for a cheap phone (GSM) (<4k) which offers a large screen, good resolution and colours. A memory card is also a requirement.

Camera etc.. are luxuries.

Please do advise about all the new local brands.

Thanks a lot for the links mate.

But, I am gonna need some help deciding here.

I text a lot, and would like a good keypad (and a large message capacity) in addition to the things I stated before.

What I am really concerned about is whether these phones are actually any good.
Haven't heard about most of the brands and all.

I have been using Nokias till now and am thoroughly fed up with the customer support. I have to eventually trash them, seeing how its so darn expensive to repair them.

Thanks a lot for the time and effort guys.

It is/has. How exactly were you trying to find out whether it works or not, or whether it is searching for satellites or not?
1. It won't work indoors, needs a clear view of the sky. It may latch on to the satellite signals if you leave it near a window
2. First time around, it does take a bit of time to resolve 4 satellite signals - the least it needs to get a good fix (there are at least 7 or 8 visible at a time)
3. Run Google maps to know whether the internal GPS is giving a stream or not (the built-in BB maps don't have India maps!!!)

I assume that the sequence would be similar in BBs. What I say is for the BB8310.

In the settings, go to advanced settings. GPS will be listed. Go in. Check the setting to see whether the GPS is ON. Then you can use the menu key and 'refresh' the GPS. Outside it should lock in a flash and will give you the latitude / longitude.

I am not very well versed with the BB vocabulary. I do hope this hels.

On my last trip to Delhi I picked up a Zen Z77 from Delhi complete with a 2 Gb micro sd card(u can go up to 4 Gb).
Full Qwerty key board
Dual GSM sim
1.3 Mp camera
Huge screen 5.6 cm wide, excellent resolution, great colour display.
Bluetooth
one touch Internet access
One touch chat
MP3/MP4/FM radio

Phew! enough features to Justify a price tag of 3600/- Previous phone was BB 8700, don't miss it at all.

Wow! That is some list for that price.

Is the phone reliable? I am prone to sweating and talking for long periods. My phones usually don't like this combination.

Even then, at that price, I wouldn't mind junking it in an year.
