I used to own a Sony Ericsson P990i and i never liked, I have used a lot of other phones, but my current phones are NOKIA 5130 and NOKIA 6680.

Has anyone tried teh NOKIA 5800 Express music? Does it have 3G and Navigation stuff?

Anyone here works for Google? I heard Google is giving away it's new Nexus One Android 2.1 handset for its employees for trial usage. Speculations are that it will be available unlocked as early as Jan '10 in the US. Any idea on availablity or pricing in India.

@khan... thanks a lot mate... that was very helpful. Can you also let me know how was the GPS sensitivity? Is it better than Nokia 5800 which is what I am using right now and I think its pretty poor without the A-GPS.

A friend has been offered a Blackberry by his office 'for emails only'. He uses his personal E63 for all calls, and is not interested in carrying around 2 phones. What are the options he has?

Outdoors under an unobstructed sky, it took about 2 minutes to get a reliable signal lock and this was without A-GPS. I hear that the R1CA firmware gets the lock time on a cold start down to less than a minute. Hack the Satio and install Nokia's excellent Ovi Maps that provide full coverage of most major cities in India.

Most companies offer a GSM Curve 83xx, Curve 8900 and Bold 9000 to their employees. There's a CDMA Tour 9600 but I'm not sure if Reliance/Tata offer BBs on their network. The Curve 83xx is outdated, the Bold 9000 is way too big and the Curve 8900 is the perfect mix of form and function and is comparable to the E71. Tell him to sell the E63 and switch to a corporate 8900.
P.S.: The new 9700 Bold2 is barely available on corporate contracts in Europe, so its highly unlikely that companies in India will offer this to their employees unless we're talking about C level people.

Khan75: The company will pay only for the emails and not for voice. That's the catch here. He does not have a choice for the device and will have to accept whatever is offered.

I am looking to buy a new phone in the range 4000 Rs to 6000 Rs. I want the phone to have similar features of Nokia 5130, but i do not want the same phone as i already have one.I have shortlisted Sony Ericsson W205, Sony Ericsson S312 or Sony Ericsson Naite. Looking out for suggestions from users of these phones as well as for suggestions for other mobiles also.

A new BB Curve 8310 locked to GPS signal in less than a minute. It was doing that for the first time.

Surprised as my Bluetooth GPS receiver struggles at that spot to get a lock!

In that price range for a Nokia the 6303 and 2730 classic, match your needs. The reason i suggest them is because they are the latest and are quite decent looking. These phones are your typical Nokia (though slightly updated from your 6300) S40 phone. You shouldn't have any trouble with them.

Lock times can vary based on coordinates, the satnav chip and the transmission power. It's possible that there are more satellites orbiting over Kerala at any given moment. I know some phones that could never latch onto a satnav signal. My SirfStar III equipped Garmin nuvi gets a reliable lock under 45 seconds every single time.

Hello Guys
I need your kind help in buying a new phone that is compatible with Kenwood X993, which my friend picked it up this chirstsmas season.

More info on kenwood is in here.
It has bluetooth built in, as listed below. Kenwood - KDC-X993

The built-in Bluetooth hands-free system enables easy, safe cellular phone communications from the car.
Features include:
• High-quality noise cancelling microphone
• Register Up To 5 Bluetooth phones
• Holds up to 1000 phone numbers per registered phone
• Supports Auto Phonebook Download
• Supports A2DP Wireless Music Streaming
• Supports Voice Recognition Dialing
• Supports incoming/outgoing short-message service (SMS)
• Not all features work on all phones

Now to use the bluetooth facility, I need to upgrade my friend. Presently, I am using Nokia 3200 bar phone.

My requirements are simple. Make calls and receive calls, and worst case scenerio SMS. Now I want to have bluetooth that can be used with the above headunit.

Compatibility list for the said unit with the mobiles is listed below.
Bluetooth Compatibility List | Kenwood Corporation

Can anyone please be kind enough to guide me to a simple NOKIA phone that can be used with the said unit please ?

Thanks a ton for all your help

What is the cheapest phone available with GPS capability? I have 1st gen iphone without GPS. Is it worth changing it for a phone with GPS capability? Till now I have been very happy with my iphone but miss the GPS.

Guys,

I am finally picking up all black Nokia E71 today. Just a quick query. Does the E71 support USB charging? or the USB is only used for data transfer and sync purpose?

Thanks
