Atom is really big. Its just very slightly bigger than some phones and definitely smaller than PDAs. So if you carry both around you'll be okay with it.

Of the 3 currently available phones 960/D600/6280 listed above which has the best camera?

For myself I really need a PDA phone. I leave my PDA everywhere and am lucky not to have lost it by now. The O2 Atom looks tempting. I am practising talking into my T5 - ugh! My fear is that the O2 Atom is so big I will leave it behind and then I will no PDA or phone!

The E70 qwerty keypad is awful for email but ok for SMS on the other hand the N80 has no keypad at all but atleast it looks like and will feel like a regular phone.

Really wish that
a) the N80 had a PDA
b) the E70 had a regular keypad
c) the O2 was smaller esp in width.

Decisions Desicions!

samsung d600 and philips 960 have the best camera lens from the options mentioned above. They use Sd cards for your convinience and are lightweight and small. If advanced camera is a priority then look at sharp 903 with 3.2mp and 2x optical zoom(A first in the market). And if you want a good but basic camera then philips 960 for you.

quality of 960 is better but loses to D600 due to the various advanced settings available on D600 which keep the quality of pics same in all lighting conditions. macro mode is again a plus. Philips loses out on these options.

The camera lens on 6233/6234 is definitely not as good. nokia 3250,n70,nokia 6270 all have the same lens and the quality is ineferior to other phones.

Secondly 6233,6234 use T-flash(microSD card) while nokia 6280 used mini SD.
I will suggest you stick to samsung d600 or philips 960.
again sharp uses mini SD

Samsung p860 is more of a concept model at present. Look at sharp 903 instead. Buy another phone and p860 will be out by the time you want a replacement.

Forr your pda, You said you also need a camera in your device. Well Nokia N80 has a 3mp camera alongwith Wifi, peer to peer telehpony, 3g video calling and slider design.

Atom's advantage will be more luxurious looks, faster cpu and Smallest windows PDA device(If you dont include Neonode N1m i.e.)

If blackberry connctivity is not important to you then forget nokia E70 as you didnt like the qwerty keypad.

According to me

1. Go for samsung d600/philips 960 slider for your wife, Second option would be sharp 903 for camera.

2. For yourself go for the nokia N80 3mp slider. Second option should be xda atom

Thanks Dev.

The sharp 903 is a flip phone hence ruled out. I think the D600 might be ok unless my wife insists on a Nokia in which case it will be the 6280 althought the photos look washed out.

Does the N80 have a keyboard and can it replace a PDA? if it does I am in business. If not the O2 Atom might be my only option.

N80 only has a numeric keyoard and yes it can replace a PDA. BTW what functions of a PDA do you really use? Most of the symbian smartphones will satisfy your basic needs for a pda.

Hey everyone i need a good phone within a budget of 25k(max30K).
I mainly use the phone for talking&messaging and some times i use the camera.
I liked my son's 6230i.Decent cam and speaker (he has loads of awesome ringtones).
I wuold like the phone small and compact (much smaller than N6600etc.)
Nokia phones are on my top priority.

Nokia phones are on my top priority.
Here are some of the options.

1. Nokia 6270:- It's as heavy as 6600 but in a slider form factor. Looks good and has stereo speakers built in the phone. 2mp camera is enough for those occasional snaps you want to take. Radio and mp3 player. Keyboard is comfortable enough for messaging. The screen with 256k is way brighter than nokia 6230i. OS system is same as 6230i so you will find it easy to use. I cant comment on the price.

look at 6270 here.

http://gsmarena.com/nokia_6270-pictures-1198.php

2. Sonyericsson k750i:- A non nokia phone which is actually better than the competitive nokia phones. The stregth of this phone is its 2mp camera with autofocus. Radio and Mp3 player are a bonus along with the bright 256k screen. Speaker phone is loud and clear too. You can call it an advanced nokia 6230i.

From the above options I would suggest you to go for

Winner:- nokia 6270

Non nokia option:- SOnyericsson k750i is a better product than nokia 6270 but you will miss the stereo speakers and the impressive slider phone design. Also messaging is easier on nokia 6270.

Rev

It would be a crime to compare sharp 903's camera with 6270.

3.2 mp camera with autofocus and optical zoom, white balance and 640x480 recording

6270 has 2mp camera with digital zoom only and 176x144 video rec.

Yes the difference will be huge. SOnyericsson k750i is the closest competitor to the sharp's excellent camera.

Email, viewing small documents (spreadsheet and notes), and i use a lot of Palm 3rd party software that allows me to store drink recipies and stuff like that. For email though I thought I'd need a keypad.

How is the battery life of the K750i (IMO the nokia 6270 is a bit too squarish for a slider)

Some people get 3-4 days while other get 2-3 days so I will say 3days with approx 1hour of calling, 1hour of mp3,1 hour of radio and 1 hour of camera and other applications. Depends on on your usage.

Well nokia N80 will work for most of your functions but lack of keyboard as you said can be a problem.

But if you need Keypad then the best wifi phones with keypad are benq p50 and sonyericsson p990i. it would be tough to write an e-mail on the ATOm with the stylus.

Not really - I guess its just a matter of getting used to it because I type pretty long mails from my JAM (same size as the Atom) quite comfortably. In fact I find using the stupid QWERTY keyboard (as in K-Jam or Nokia 9300) a real pain because I end up pressing two or more buttons at the same time. Also got used to scribbling stuff on the screen - handwriting recognition works tolerably well.

same goes for me. I dont like the qwerty keypads but Navin here has a preference for keyboard. Otherwise N80 fits just fine for him.
