I doubt if you can configure Gtalk and Yahoo on E71 directly (no such application from Google and Yahoo), you will have to use a third party application.

Got my 5800 today ! Its everything that i expected it to be.. I am not disapointed at all . Tough some of my friends who have the i phone dint like it at all !

>>Symbian 60series
Iam addicted to it ! cant use any other platform!

>>Battery life
Still running on out-of-box battery charge level..lasted 3/4 day on 2 lines of charge !

-ves
>>Touch interface
The touch interface is not as responsive as the i-phone's .. you need to use your nail to type messages . but iam quite happy !

>>slow
My previous phone was a e71.. the 5800 is not as fast, but liveable !

>>Build quality
Not as good as the iphone .. Have used a n81 before which had the same kind of back pannel , started squeaking after some rough use !

Verdict -
If you like symbian , you will fall in love with the phone .. otherwise you might even hate it !
Boss, so did you get the senny hd202s with it? Since it s a 32ohms headphone how well does the 5800 drive it? what all does the box contain?

At least for Gmail, there is. Via your native phone browser, go to Gmail and download the latest application.

For Yahoo Go, go to us.get.go.yahoo.com

Unable to activate GPRS/Vodafone Live

I just bought a Nokia 5310 Xpress Music. I am facing a strange problem in activating Vodafone Live on it. As per the instructions, I sent out an SMS 'ACT VLZERO' to 111 (the zero rental pay-per-use plan for Mumbai Post paid users). I get a confirmation that GPRS would be activated within 48 hours.

Then I send out an SMS 'VL' to 52586 to recieve the settings. Now I get a reply saying that 'GPRS settings are not available as the phone type is not supported'.

Calls to Vodafone CC confirmed that these 2 SMSs are to be sent out in order to activate GPRS. They also confirm that 5310 is GPRS enabled. However, they are not able to figure out why its not getting activated.

I had the same problem with my previous phone, 6300 (same OS - Symbian S40). With it I was able to use data based applications such as Gmail and ngpay but was unable to browse. I thought it might be locked for data (or something like that), since I had purchased it from Dubai.

I took that to a Vodafone Store and they said that Zero rental plan WILL NOT WORK (as it is the Basic GPRS plan) and that I have to activate the Advanced GPRS plan which has a monthly rental of Rs 49. As always, they were clueless about the reasoning for the same. I still have to visit Vodafone Store for the 5310, but I pretty much assume they will have no answer for it.

Any clue why this is happening? S40 is tedious to work around with, after having S60 for over 2 years now.

Local dealers with their B&W, not your Mobile Store/Croma/Hotspot prices. Add Rs 200-800 to these prices to arrive at their prices.

Fring works good for Gtalk, YahooMSGR etc. For mail, Gmail, yahoo and rediff have their own applications. Works cool on my E51.
