Those who have purchased the E71, are you guys facing reception problems? There's some talk going on in blogosphere regarding this - check this out for e.g.

BoyGeniusReport

That's the only thing holding me back, otherwise I love this handset. My workplace is notorious for poor reception and one of the prime reasons why I'm changing my current phone.

Now that the astronomical unsubsidized iphone 3g prices are out, I am leaning towards the E71. But the BGR report does scare me a little - I wonder if this is for US phones only. Time to do some digging.

Hey Now - Leave the L7 alone! The E71 sure is tempting - So my Birthday is up in a month and I am totally open to extravagent gifts at this point. And just to refresh your memory, I gave you a gift that kept on giving, for precisely 20 days.

i-Phone Launch in India atlast !

The iPhone 3G will be launched in 8GB and 16GB at Rs 31,000 and Rs 36,100 respectively from Vodafone and Airtel tomorow 22nd August 2008. I got a confirmation from the airtel customer care. It will be the highest prices in the world for an i-phone as reports say. Although its claimed to be a 3G version on mobile operator's websites, its expected to be an updated 2G version (GPRS) until the 3G will be availble at a later stage. For details this link will be helpful Vodafone To Launch iPhone 3G In India On Friday, For A Whopping $715 And $830; Not 3G, But GPRS - washingtonpost.com So how many of you have booked an i-phone ??

Classic example of how to take Indian consumers for a ride! Something which is been sold at $199 and 299 in US is being sold here at this price. The irony is people still go for it

SO I finally went in for a e71 and changed my n95 last evening. Let me put it this way, its really really fast, whether its web browsing, or email or just phone browsing, no lag whatsoever. Also it comes with some great software like business card reader, which is pretty decent and advanced call manager, which is great. Overall a very very nice phone, with a classy finish, but my only problem is the buttons are a bit small, guess will get used to that. Tried typing out a few mails and its just ok, as of now. May get better at it as I use it more. Would recommend the phone.

@harry... dont take it to heart dude! The US prices are with 2 year contract and hence the phone is subsidized. In europe an unlocked iphone without any contract obligations retails for 550+ Euro's and if you convert it to Indian rupees its about the same.

You may be right on the european prices. But remember Airtel and Vodafone will be locking the i-phone for 2 years too as informed by the operators. So it should be the same pricing like the US. Now a 2 year contract or a 2 year sim lock will give the same effect to the end-user, or am I missing something here ?

The irony is that a lot of people still believe the $199 and $299 price tags. Take the commitment cost into account and you're tying yourself up for a lot more.

Of course AirTel and Voda still tie you in for iPhone-specific plans even after they take 31k/37k from you. THAT is the right royal ride.
