Well last I knew it was available new for around 7k. No idea now, probably discontinued as E51 prices have fallen to around 10-10.5k levels.

4. N82 is "hackable" you get all sorts of documentation / tools for that

N82 with iPhone like screen will be Nirvana.
I was looking forward to the iPhone last year itself and it didnt work out. Then 3g seemed like a great option but turns out getting it outright will be a costly proposition. Bas n82 is feature packed only not as glamorous as the iPhone. Kya karien.

Negatives in N82 are lack of touchscreen and terrible keys. Otherwise its a cool phone.

Your right netfreak... in terms of ergonomics nothing like using the iPhones touchscreen. Also its great for showing of media.

Sometimes I think I should just forget it all and get the n73... That way getting an iPhone later could also be an option

Ok, guys I am about to buy a new phone. To gift my sister.

Suggestions please, Need a good branded one like LG Parada KE850. So it has to be some Parada, gucci, ferrari and stuff.

Needs to be exclusive and if not available in india i can get it from abroad.

Budget less than 50K.

Guys, Any idea as to when is the next N82 firmware upgrade coming? I am hoping to see brighter screen and probably the navi wheel option.

@Ram...???
There is a trick/hack for "brighter screen" in N82 i'll see if i can find you the linky. But Navi wheel? Does n82 have the hardware for that ? The next update might have the n78 type menu transitions i think among others.

The screen is dimmed to some extent by software design. It helps reduce energy consumption from the battery. Otherwise, the ability of the screen backlight to be bright is evident when you power-on the N82.

Navi wheels, being mechanical devices do have a per unit-price notoriety for
durability and reliability problems, arising from wear-and-tear, sensitivity to dust, liquid spills, etc. I'm not sure if Nokia sees its value as a user-interface device, as strong enough to overrule these other issues.

I think Nokia should leave it on me if I want more battery life or better, brighter screen. The screen brightens up even when your phone is on profile "silent" and someone gives you a call.

There's another thing I noticed in my N82 which is the titanium one and my friend's which is a black one. The top left corner of the 'D' pad in N82 titanium has some sort of connection while the same isnt there in the N82 black. And while the 'D' pad in the N82 black is a lot more positive in operation I am guessing the connection in the N82 Titanium is for the sensor for the Navi Wheel.

You can use the application from google itself (Google Maps)! For a 3rd party application for google maps or any other map, try Mobile GMaps - View maps from various sources on your mobile phone!.
