K790i has XENON flash so Camera wise it is better!
upgrade your firmware and see the difference in speed. but dont expect it to be as fact as s40 phones.

Excatly! S60 phones are generally slower than their S40 counterparts, But they offer a whole lotta more features and are much more customizable!

Try the K810i, its an updated K790i and comparable to N73 with more camera features.

There seems to have been a major price adjustment on a lot of Sony Ericsson phones. I am trying to find a latest price list online. A lot of phones have dropped by around Rs 3,000.

My dad upgraded to the 6500 classic from his existing 6300 and simply loves it since the software is almost same as his old phone without the draw backs of overheating etc. It is the slimest phone nokia has ever made and feels like a quality product unlike the slide version.

Symbian40 which the 6500 comes with is a far stable software platform compared to the S60 on the N series. Although it is not as feature packed, the 6500 classic is one of the best models in the existing nokia line up.

A very good upgrade from the N72,
would be the legendary Nokia N73. It is now available for Rs. 11,700.

With 4GB of additional storage, the black N73(Music Edition) comes for Rs. 13,300.

The N73s come with a top class 3.3 megapixel Carl Zeiss Tessar camera with mechanical shutter.

According to flickr.com statistics, the N73 is the top cameraphone for photos, after the
5 megapixel Carl Zeiss Tessar based Nokia N95
which retails for Rs. 21,900. The Nokia N95 8GB retails for Rs. 27,800.
But if you don't mind spending this kind of money on a phone,
an excellent choice would be the Nokia N82 at Rs. 21,300.
The N82 has a 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss Tessar, with Xenon flash!

It has a top-class 3.2 megapixel Carl-Zeiss Tessar (4-element glass) autofocus lens and mechanical (not electronic) shutter, excellent stereo sound and Nokia reliability and after-sales service.

The N73 handset is reviewed here.
Mobile-review.com Review of GSM/UMTS-smartphone Nokia N73

And here they have reviewed the N73's legendary camera separately.
Mobile-review.com Review of Nokia N73’s 3.2 Mpix camera

@Xehaust
I am still lokking online, I went to The Mobile Store on Saturday evening, I SE W910i that used to be priced at Rs18,xxx was now priced at Rs15,xxx (can't remember the exact prices).

Universal: univercell.in - Home
Wavetel Mobile: Wavetel Mobiles - Buy Nokia, Sony Mobile Phones Online at lowest price in chennai, India | largest number of Mobile Showrooms in chennai | Offering Mobile phones at Lowest Prices | Get Mobiles phones FREE Home Delivery Across India | Largest Mobile p

Both above sites show major price reductions on a W910i as an example.

Thanks Raja,
Im actually looking for the K810i. Would have bought the phone a week back but saw that a newer model - C902 is coming out soon so am waiting for it to be launched and then decide.

This is because the only reason im buying a new phone is because ive suddenly become interested in photography and prefer buying a good cam phone which will be there with me all the time rather than a camera which i will have to lug around.

Else, i would have happily stayed with my current phone which im happily using since the past 2 years - the P910i

  • Complete VOIP product. Access to PSTN.
  • Supports Low Bandwidth Codec (even works with EDGE/GPRS/CDMA).
  • Streamlined UI. Optimized for one-handed operation. Today Screen on Pocket PC. Home Screen support for Smartphone.
  • Extremely fast P2P file transfer. Quick picture messaging.
  • Low CPU usage. Only VOIP product that works on Treo 700w (300 MHz processor).
  • Secure and Encrypted connection to GoogleTalk. Google Talk messages are encrypted using industry standard TLS/SSL.
  • Message Archiving in your GMail Account.
  • Share files with your buddies (automated file transfer).
  • Access your computer remotely. Install OctroTalk for Windows on your desktop, and share a folder with OctroTalk on your Mobile.

Not bad at all.

EDIT: They just launched, so it's in beta. Not that it should stop you

Gaaij,

Need little the help. While the k750i is doing good duty, I need a decent secondary mobile (pref SE!) which has the following features:
a. Decent FM/music if possible.
b. Good sound clarity on speaker phone.
c. Should look pseud enough in hapis.
d. Decent against harsh sunlight.
e. Most important: Different ringtones for different people. So like quiet in normal case, and extra loud selection for boss :P
f. Bluetooth/card storage et al would all be a bonus.
g. Another important thing: Quiet vibration calls. SE phones have this grating noise which comes when they ring in silvent/vibrate mode. Older nokias were quiet.

Any other suggestion for a decent/discreeet phone would be welcome. Ideas? My budget is abysmal by tbhp standards (3-5k) Thanks in advance
