Unable to connect Nokia mobile & laptop through Bluetooth

I have Nokia 3230, which has IrDA and Bluetooth. I can connect with my laptop using IrDA, but it is very slow.

I tried to connect using Bluetooth: switched on bluetooth connection in mobile, visibility is set to all and clicked 'New Paired Device', scanning begins.

In laptop (IBM T43, Windows XP), trying to search for Bluetooth devices, but after sometime it says no device found.

However, from my mobile, I can connect with other mobiles (Nokia, Sony) through Bluetooth and can exchange files.

What could be issue?

Great point! Me too have a samish problem. I am unable to transfer files between my iMate JAQ3 and Nokia N91M. Could it be an issue of the differing operating systems? The file format should not be an issue as the files I was trying to transfer were image files. Any help would be appreciated!!

Its a bit dated (not in real calendar days terms) because O2 have released a slew of products after the Atom Exec. The Exec was a much needed update to the Atom itself.

That apart, its a wonderful little piece of machinery - very compact and stylish, and has most features one might need. Its also one of the few Pocket PC phones that come with an FM radio, but you need to use the wired headsets for FM Reception (the headsets are also the antenna).

File exchange requires simple Obex (Edit: that stands for Object Exchange) or FTP bluetooth protocols. Connecting to the net using your laptop requires your phone bluetooth stack to support Serial Port or Dialup Modem. Check your phone first. If the phone does support these profiles, then you need to check the bluetooth stack on your laptop.

Yes agreed, its a little over a year old piece but that's what is exactly fitting my budget of 17-20k. The features are good as well.
Any other phones in the same bracket?

I'm not sure it fits all your purposes but why not a new HTC Touch?

Yeah HTC touch is a nice option. Delhi price is 19.4k as on Saturday. The only issue - locked to Airtel. HTC's other model 3400 or something like that is also decent although I would suggest that if you are going for a Windows phone now do go in for something that runs Windows 6.0. Much nicer interface.

Not a problem - HTC phones are easily unlocked. We've been doing this for about 6 years now.

Great application for those who own a Windows Mobile device with GPS:

WIMP - Where Is My Phone

Very useful if you've lost your $800 phone - you can track it down with its GPS co-ordinates! Though in the west it is used by the guys to keep tabs on where their girlfriends are.
