k790i is a better cam, no two ways about it.

k750i is complete VFM. I got it for 8k in delhi (mumbai prices are 7.5k types). But a k790i is twice the cost. if you don't have a digicam, then a k790i makes sense, even an n73 (good all around). else k750i does the job (its albeit very old model!).

Consider a samsung d900i. The cam has no macro, awkward way to click, but quality is decent, and superb VFM. The screen is simply brilliant.

on afterthought, k750i is best. save the rest of money and you cna buy a decent digicam for the family in the difference if you have money to blow, then nvm

w950i is going to be replaced by the w960i. so you can wait for that to be released. prices of the w950 will also go down. though i would not recommend the w950i, the 960 will hopefully be much better.

Nokia has just announced the replacement to the popular E50 business phone. The new nokia E51 boosts better connectivity with WLAN, bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, 3G connectivity HSDPA of 3.6Mbps. all this with the new 9.1 S60 v3.1 OS with feature pack 1.

It also has the new microUSB industry standard data cum charging port.

More details here:

thanks for the reply Cheap_deal.
Well actually i read somewhere that the pricing of w960i would be around 30k range. As of now my budget is too low (still a student ).So the best options right now for me is k800 or the W950i.Actually i don want to go in for a Nokia.
I don compulsorily need a cam on the mobile as i have another digicam. Also i intend to use the cell for around 1.5yrs

The only point am afraid of gng for W950i is that i haven never used a touchscreen on a cell and so afraid how the screen would react to normal day to day use (keeping the cell in pocket along with coins n stuffs). Also i read in a review tht the keypad looses sensitivity after long use.Are these issues true?Any users please give a feedback.

And also how lagging would be the Symbian OS in W950i.I had never used a Symbian Mobile yet.
Am interested in W950i for the 4Gb memory (flash memory) and the wide screen.
Thanks for the replies fellow Bhpians

Airtel will probably carrying it. Voda has not yet been announced as a partner in Europe, so that is likely to be how it is in India also.

Speed-wise, right now the max they can do is EDGE. (And WiFi if you can find an AP). The 3G iPhone hasn't been announced yet. Should be soon, as Steve Jobs is right now travelling Europe announcing the iPhone all over the place. Only O2 has been officially announced (in the UK) so far, with T-Mobile and Orange rumoured to be the partners in Germany & France.

Even if the 3G iPhone comes, we (Indians) have to get 3G service. When that is going to be is an open question :(

Iv been using my friend's Iphone today and Id say its probably one of the best phones iv used. It really feels nice and solid in your hand and is really easy to use. Id buy it if I wanted a new phone.

Why is the USA so backward in mobile phones?

From the low "fuel-efficiency" (high battery consumption) Microsoft OS phones,
to the iPhone where the designer has omitted something taken for granted, like Java game programmability and expandable flash memory.

Advanced technology markets like India and Europe will never fall for c***py American design.

Was tough deciding. But finally got the Sony ericsson k750i with 512MB card (B&W) for 7.9k.

Phone is slightly less than half my original budget (N73), but am very happy with it. Cam is better than i expected, and for the 9k i saved can go in for my digital-camera fund.

Some initial impressions- (though everyone might know)
Pros-
  • Nice camera. Although 2MP, takes nice and soft pics.
  • Excellent VFM.
  • Charges via USB also.
Cons-
  • Speaker volume for MP3 playback is average. Thats confusing since MP3 ringtones and video files and all are played at high volumes.
  • No flash. Only photolight. is an advantage when taking close-up pics at night, but inadequate for taking distant and large objects.
If only, i could buy an S3IS to go with it.
