It plays AVI files. There is a Smartmovie program comes along with it for you computer system to convert the MP3/4 video to AVI format.

N73 runs on Symbian OS version 9.1 / S60 3rd Edition (S60 3.0) and LCG Smartmovie for Symbian is supported on this platform.

LCG Smartmovie is supported on Symbian S60, S60 3rd edition, UIQ, UIQ 3.0, Series80 and so on...

Ok so the smartmovie is somewhat like a mediaplayer which plays avi files and it converts the mpeg and mpg files to 3gp format am i right. Also what about the sound quality dosen't it come down when you convert it into some format

Anyone knows the launch date for the P1i? Heard it was sometime in June but June is pretty much gone :(

While converting it allows you to set the audio settings like bitrate (Max I saw was 128Kbps), option to force it to mono. Program says it uses LAME MP3 code for audio compression.

Should be alright to view a movie on phone with normal (nokia supplied headsets or onboard speakers)

128 kbps should be quite adequate enough don't u think so.Anyways is this software available for free. Also my videos are of huge sizes so would the converter reduce it's size and if yes by how much

It is not a free software (costs approx. around 30$ ) but you do some google and you would get cracked version (which would be slightly older than the current)

Here is some tests and comparison of the product too
All About Symbian Review: Smartmovie vs Nokia Video Manager

I remember, when I converted a file from MP4 (taken on a N72) video of 1.6MB to avi using this software, the output was a 900KB file. I had selected all parameters (audio/video bitrate etc.) at max possible.

So is it that if i want to convert a 100 mb video the output would be 90 mb or would it be lesser i am asking all this because i would be using this mostly for all my videos

Hey bro there is a freeware Divx player for symbian phones for playing avi files. DivX Mobile - Display Size. Most 3rd edition symbian phones can play avi videos at 25fps which is pretty good. To convert videos for the phone check out this freeware its supposed to be the best. SUPER © ..

here is a screeshot of the best settings for the convertor to be used for a phone which supports 320x240 resolution.

HTC phones are now available in the market

yup the touch costs Rs.19,900.
