Re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

The issue also is that 5-star ACs from marquee brands are anyway expensive; so the incentive to scrap the existing unit will have to be fancy enough to entice a consumer to ditch his old AC to shell out the big bucks for a new one. Such govt "consultations" have no fixed time-frame and announcements may never see the light of day.

Re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

Question to experienced folks here- Which is a good 'budget' AC? All that is needed is basic robust cooling. This is for a student who is studying in a tier 3 town near Gulbarga and cannot afford an AC. The room is on top floor and with the summer over there it is very unbearable to be in the room. So, wanted to help him with a basic AC which takes care of cooling in 40+ degree heat. No fancy features needed.

Please suggest. Thanks

If the town is served by Croma (I mean a physical store), consider their own Croma branded ACs. A friend fitted one for his one storey medical shop and says it is good enough.

There should be a Croma store in Gulbarga, need to confirm. Does Chroma take care of installing and maintenance?

I suggest that you be ready to help him with his electricity bill! I expect he's out most of the day, but it is still going to add noticeably, especially for a youngster who is not earning.

I don't know the size of his room, but assuming a small one of around 100 sq ft, a 1 ton AC should suffice. if it is even smaller, a 0.75 ton would do too. Regardless here are a few with delivery to the location.

1. MARQ 0.75 Ton 3 star AC/ 1 Ton 3 star AC
At Rs 20,990 and with an additional 1500 discount on CC transactions, this should suffice for your requirement. We had a Marq AC in an office room in our shop, sales, service, and support are all provided by Jeeves, an associate company of Flipkart, and it has been going well too.

he 1-ton version costs Rs.3,000 more and has similar card offers as well.

https://www.flipkart.com/marq-flipka...gk50QO0018z79Y

2. DAIKIN 0.8 Ton 3 star AC
Nobody associates Daikin and cheap, so if you want to offer a good AC which has great brand value, this is a great option, at Rs 26,490 from Croma with a Rs.2649 Discount on CC transactions, this is a good buy for any small room.

https://www.croma.com/daikin-standar...l28u-/p/248199

There are options for 1 ton 5-star and 1.5 ton 5-star ACs from Marq, Realme and the like, but I don't think you need to go over 30k for an AC Moreover, 1.5 ton is overkill unless the room is over 150 sq ft.

Hope this helps, and if you need any further help or options, I would me more than happy to help. Moreover I really appreciate your kind-heartedness in helping the boy, May god bless you!

Ask the nearest Reliance Digital if they have a 1 ton Midea machine available. 3 star inverter is fine. Should be around 30K. It's a part of Carrier group with robust cooling (recommended to me by our AC installer as an option).

Their 3 Star inverter is about 37K from distributors here in Delhi NCR excluding installation and piping. For the same amount of money I can also get a 1.5 Ton Daikin, 3 Star inverter. I suspect you are being ''pushed'' a series you may not need.

You can check for the above options. You can also look at the brand I've suggested above.

I have experience only with Mitsubishi split (excellent), Voltas Window (Good), Carrier Window (terrible) and Hitachi Split (Moody).

cheers.

They do and they are very supportive. In fact they are a single point of contact for whatever brand/product we buy from them. In case of any service requirement we need to contact only them, and they will arrange a visit from the respective brand service technician.

Re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

I decided to buy the Daikin FTKM35U 1 ton 5 star inverter (R32) model.

Best price was 38490 on Croma, but wasn’t allowing me to order online as it was out if stock. I tried the nearby Croma store but it was out of stock after they initially claimed it is in stock! Then tried Reliance Digital, other stores and even at other local authorised sellers but no luck.

Finally my daughter found it online on Vijay Sales website for 39990, placed the order and received it in 3 days, installation was done by a Daikin authorised service provider the next day. Happy with the product, it is a silent chiller!

This is my first AC and I hope to have the same experience with the brand..

@ Aroy Sir, does the manufacturing date matter for AC? I spent three days across multiple stores and observed that nobody cares about the manufacture date during delivery. People are literally taking whatever the store gives them, the oldest being from December 2023 and the newest being from February 2025. Upon asking the store managers about it, they stated that it is irrelevant since warranty claims are based on the billing date.

What's your view on this?

That is a steal deal with 5 five years comprehensive. Its quite unbelievable you managed to get it at 35.5k for a five star inverter ac, (Split right?) Just make sure it is brand warranty! Nowadays the term "comprehensive" has also become ambiguous where it can turn out to be not comprehensive enough

Not necessarily, Croma has been having these offers on Voltas ACs on and off over the past year or so, I even picked up a 1.5-ton 5-star Voltas Split Inverter AC 2024 model in August for 31k with the same 5-year comprehensive warranty. It's a good deal as compared to other stores though. The only problem with the 5 year comprehensive is that you have to get it periodically serviced from Voltas itself as per their schedule for it to remain active.

I thought Croma only had ZipCare as its warranty partner, costing about 10k. Are we even living in the same India?? I just paid 42K for 1 ton 5 star with comprehensive.

Yes, it's a split AC. I was expecting a maximum discount of 3k, but after inserting the card(HDFC credit), I received 6.5k discount.

It's a brand warranty from Voltas but with lot of conditions. I am attaching the image of what they advertise The home / office air-conditioner thread-img_20250406_125307.jpg

vs actual terms and conditions for comprehensive warranty.

Pardon me for the poor quality image.
