re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

all right guys. Totally sold on Inverter acs. Need to buy at least 2 for 2 bedrooms for Noida apartment. For living room i think regular splits would do as they would not be used for than couple of hrs per day. Can anyone recommend any dealer ( sharp or daikin) where one can get a good deal. Does Sharp have good after sales in Delhi NCR area?

Guys, Need your help and suggestions in picking out a split A/C for our home. The A/C is for the bedroom which is around 120 sq.ft. I am planning to keep a budget of around 30k.

Current forum favorites are Sharp and Daikin. I personally have two Daikins and two Samsungs.
If bedroom i suggest go with an inverter ac as it is supposed to be good at keeping an even temperature through the night. I imagine a one tonne will suffice for your room size practically, though most sites and sales folks will recommend 1.5 or 1.2T

Bedrooms see a lot of use, so an inverter is really called for, but I doubt whether you will get in within your budget, esp if you want R410.

It depends on how big the "around" is

Our Sharp was 30-something. I'm useless at remembering numbers: maybe it was about 33k with a good exchange deal.

Any feedback on this model? Is it with a copper condenser?

Voltas 155 CY seems to be a very popular model on snapdeal. It doesn't have a copper condenser though.
I've ordered two of these from snapdeal last week and one has been delivered today.
At about 26k I feel it is the best 5 star ac deal today.

Hi guys,

Last week only I booked Onida 1 ton split AC for my new home. It is 5 star rating for energy saving.
Costs me INR 28,000/- including installation. It has 5 year compressor warranty.
Although I will be installing this AC only in next month booked to gain pre-budget costing advantage.

Btw that shop was giving Carrier Superia AC for INR 33,000/- but I was not having that much budget.

Regards,
Sameer

re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

Have had an absolutely hassle free experience with O'General 1.5T window ACs since last 6 years and therefore, when it was time to get splits, which brand to go for was a no brainer.. Purchased 2x1.5T split inverter ACs yesterday, which were delivered today, and will be fitted on Saturday.

Will share the ownership experience once summers set in..

What kind of service were you getting done on the window ac? I've owned LG, Carrier, Samsung, Hitachi and OG in window and none lasted more than 3-4 years. Then I switched to Splits and own Samsung and Daikin. Both my Daikins are 4 years old and have needed gas refill in the 4th year. My 9 year old Samsung 2T split is doing fine except for once a condenser change, though it is used only in summer as it is in the living room.
On the other hand my father in law bought the LG window ac along with me in 1998 and it is still running fine for him. He never gets it serviced, just cleans the filter himself regularly and it is used extensively...

I would not recommend snapdeal at all. Can you check with voltas if they honor the warranty?

Sharp for example, has clearly mentioned that they will not give warranty on snapdeal products. See below:

re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

Hi Guys,

I have zeroed in Sharp AH-X18PET(1.5T) and AH-X15RET(1.25T) and also 1.1 ton for my 120 sq feet flat in Kolkata with no direct access to sun's rays. I am now in a dilemma:
1. There is a shop called Ambient Cooling Solutions (which I found through Just Dial) which is offering -
1.1 ton white/black/silver/red 33,800w/35500sr/34,100b
1.25 39850w/40750s
1.5 42950w/45500s

2. Amazon is offering the 1.5 tonner at around 42K
http://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B00P...ls?ie=UTF8&me=

3. Khosla Electronics (reputed dealer) is offering the 1.25 ton one at around 43k inclusive of installation

Which makes a better sense? And also- does anyone know about this Ambient Cooling?

A correction on the gas need. My second daikin was due to get a gas fill today but the mechanic mentioned that gas is fine and needs deep chemical cleaning. Indoor unit has dirt buildup and needs to be removed completely and cleaned with some chemical. Will cost me 1800 and is scheduled for Thursday. Will take 8 hours it seems. A friend who uses the same guy had got it done 2 years back. Anyone else have this experience?

Actually none.. Knock on the wood! Except that I got the unit cleaned up for dirt and dust on a couple of occasions, there isn't even a single rupee I have spent on maintenance of O'General ACs since 2009.

These have been great work-horses, used for 20-22 hours per day during Delhi summers (late March/early April to late Sep/early Oct)

This is the precise reason why I didn't bat an eyelid for my subsequent purchase

@diyguy; Deep chemical cleaning, never heard of it. Normally a hosing plus brushing with a stiff brush is all it takes. In fact Daikins' have sealed units, so often they do not even bother to open the condenser box.
