It doesnt really hold a candle to Google. Which is a shame and also kind of a surprise, cos the Cuil owners worked at Google before.

Give it some time to grow hopefully they'll improve much on advanced search. Google needs some competition very badly. The layout is pretty good.

How does one pronounce it btw? I like to call it Kuyil.. name of a bird

Come on, every new garage startup claims that its going to be the next google! I tried a quick search and hated the way that cuil displays its search results, as well as the search results itself. A search for "Indian car forum" showed 7 results of some Canadian community in the first two pages. There was a mention of Team-BHP, but not a direct link.

Unless a new startup does something revolutionary, there isn't a chance of them breaking the Google monopoly. If you do the exact same thing as the market leader, why would anyone shift?

Interesting. But each have its pro's and con's. The more popular website could be more relevant and / or have better content.

Tried it and came out disappointed. Maybe it needs some time to grow.
As of now, it's no where near Google.

There're stories that the Yahoo is going to be sold to Microsoft and the guys who started up Yahoo is behind CUIL. How true? God knows.

I don't think this will succeed. Screwed up on day one on load factor. Display ain't that pleasing to the eye and last the results are not that great.

Couple of failed negotiations but word on the street is, it may still go ahead. Look up the stories on Fortune / Forbes.

Not true. Cuil, pronounced as "cool" (God knows why) was started by ex-Google employees.

If this is the case when an few ex-employees of Google starts a Google competitor, then I really dont see why Google should fear competition.

In this day and age, if you are to wean me off Google, you have to go far beyond Google's relevancy and results. If you dont, I wont give you a second chance.
Nobody seems to understand this and nobody seems to care. MSN, Yahoo, now cuil.

As per ET, Cuil in Irish is known as Knowledge. Is that what you were trying?

this over hyped search engine wasn't even able to return it's website on the first page. It appears that that has been sorted out now
