Re: The iPhone Thread

Gorilla super strong tape can hold the glass together (I bought it for Rs 700 in Dubai). Look it up. Only thing is it's expensive in India

Hence if there are cheaper solutions to replace the rear Glass please provide your inputs.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Finally they ditched the 64GB versions! Although prices for the Pro models in India are absolutely atrocious! This is the right time to buy the previous Gen Pro models but they discontinue them every year and keep the standard cheaper versions and the previous Gen pro models availability all depends on the stock with stores.

The 12 to 13 jump should have been the 12s, the 13 series just isn’t a upgrade from last year’s 12 series.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Actually factoring in 5-6% inflation, the 13 pros are cheaper than last years 12 pros given they’ve not increased prices at all, despite all the camera improvements, faster A15 chip, smaller notch and pro motion.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Still on the iPhone 11 because I suffer from Pulse Width Management (PWM) issues (severe eye strain, headaches etc) with the OLED screens of the 11 Pro and all the 12 series models. Would be really interested to know/see if the 13 Pro models with the new Pro-Motion displays have the same issue.

Cheers

Re: The iPhone Thread

Being environment friendly, I think Apple is recycling events as well. I mean what was the real "upgrade" in this event (except the ipad mini). I think most iphone 12 pro users will not upgrade to the 13 pro because there is no huge improvement for them. As for the ipad, i own the ipad 8th gen and do not think the 9th gen is an upgrade worthwhile. Infact, This is the best year for people to save some money and get the previous gen iphone 12s at a discount. I was really anticipating the airpods 3 and they didn't introduce it.As for the series 7, except for the screen size, I don't really see much of an upgrade.

True That. This was one of the most underwhelming event that I have seen from Apple in a long time. Seems like they are focusing more on Iphone 14, which is rumored to go all screen with a hole punch front camera. Apart from a xx% better battery and xx% better CPU & GPU, there is absolutely nothing here. However, I am now thinking on upgrading from my existing humble iphone 7 32 GB, to the Iphone 12 Mini given it is still available, & now at lower price. I did not change the battery on my Iphone 7 since purchase in 2016 and as is the case with most 5 year old iphones, this one remains on life support with battery bank at 69% battery life.

Re: The iPhone Thread

To launch 4 phones and yet not have a strong differentiator compared to last year’s models, well, only Apple can do something like this and still probably get away with it! My view is that this new iPhone 13 series would get a lukewarm response across the globe, and might actually push the iPhone 12 series a bit, owing to reduction of prices.

While I understand that the form factor of mobile phones have largely lacked improvisation, Apple has to do something novel. Samsung has tried the flip and foldable screens, I don’t know the kind of response to these phones owing to their size and price, but these innovations could lead to something down the line.

The USP of iPhones or iPads or even something like an Apple TV continues to be their OS / User interface. I have been using iPhones for the last 10 years and I cannot get myself away from their OS to Android. It just seems impossible! The seamless integration between my family’s devices such as an Apple TV, iPad Air and two iPhones is just fantastic!
However, I’m not a heavy smartphone user, so I upgrade only once in 3 years. Moved from a XR to 12 this year, and my wife will probably upgrade her XR to a 12 pro or pro max depending on how much the prices reduce, but definitely not the 13.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Apple is facing shortage of chip capacity at TSMC and does not want to go big bang. Iphone 13 looks like a short gap arrangement. Even M1x products are not announced due to this.
So most people have welcomed Iphone 13 with memes like these. Even that promotion video is a copy of "Dum maaro Dum"

Re: The iPhone Thread

Any bank or credit card discounts on the 13?

Need to upgrade the wifes XR and was thinking of getting the 13 128 gb rather than the 12.

Re: The iPhone Thread

The good thing is now the price of the 12 will be quite low in the upcoming Diwali sales on Amazon and Flipkart. Thinking if I should go with 128 gb or bump it up to 256 for longer life (I can change the battery 2-3 years in).

My 8 plus is running fine except for the battery, but I now wish it had at least 128 gb because storage is the only thing I really need an upgrade for.

Re: The iPhone Thread

To all those bashing Apple on how it isn’t a big enough upgrade, ask yourself except the iPhone 7-X change back in ‘17, when have iPhones been a radical upgrade over the last year, 4s to 5? 6 to 6s or 6s to 7? Or X to Xs, 11 to 12? Truth is they’re always incremental upgrades in screen/camera/battery/ram, anybody expecting a sea change is missing the point. 120hz alone is huge for me personally as it makes everything so smooth, other things like 1000 nits brightness, smaller notch, better battery, better cameras, faster chip with more gpu cores are all nice add ons. Ideally wait a few years for the upgrades to add up and then upgrade, I went from the 6s to the 12 pro max, couldn’t be happier. Cheers.

Re: The iPhone Thread

In my case, I was fortunate enough to be gifted a wad of Croma vouchers at work and I intend to use them to buy the iPhone 13. I emailed Croma to find out when pre-orders start. They said they don't know :-/
