iPhone SE at 36 K on Flipkart with additional discount possible in exchange scheme. Offer showing till midnight only.

I had posted here about a WiFi issue with my wife's 6S earlier. Now after several software upgrades and resets we have come to the conclusion that it is a hardware problem.

I took it to Apple service in my town as it is still in warranty. But it turns out that they have been shutdown as some of its staff has contracted Covid. The other 'nearest' service center is at least 200km away.

The warranty expires on Sep 30 and they won't open again before that. What other options do I have here?

Log a complaint with Apple so they know this issue existed during Warranty period. Given the situation, they should be flexible in ensuring it is attended to once the centre opens, even if after 30-Sept.

Thank you. They registered a case and gave me a case id. According to them, I can quote this case id and get an exception when the service center reopens. That's some relief.

1. battery goes from 100-20% in 2 hrs sometimes and 8 hrs sometimes irrespective of usage
2. random heating issues
3. Once battery drains and switches off, it takes a long time to restart when plugged in
4. Battery health at 80% which is pretty good.

So finally taking inspiration from @audioholic I ordered a replacement battery from The Black Store on Amazon along with an Amazon Basics screwdriver set.
The replacement itself took about 30 mins. After removing the bottom screws had a little difficulty separating the display, probably because of a small dent in the lower left side. After removing all the connectors, I forgot to heat the back before pulling on the adhesive strips and they broke. Took a bit of coaxing to finally get the battery out. The replacement battery looked exactly the same as the original, including the apple logo. But the connector cable was slightly longer Put everything back and have used for 48 hrs after hard reset. Did a factory reset today.

Observations:
1. Battery seems to hold charge better. 100% to 0% took almost 8 hours. Far cry from the 2 days life that I had when the phone was new.
2. Heating still there, especially while charging
3. Restart took about 5 mins only
4.Battery health is at 98%

Sorry I couldn't take any pics after the replacement. But am sharing the stats.

Sumath, do go thru the last few pages on this thread, there are quite a few discussions on iOS 14 and it’s features. If you have something new to share, do post it here.

While the widgets are a nice new toy which increases functionality and does look cool, it has a negative effect on battery life. I played with the Home Screen a lot (adding widgets etc) and the battery seemed to drain a lot faster. Removing/reducing widgets has a positive effect on battery performance.

Cheers

Wow! That's quite a steep drop in battery life, but these can't be genuine batteries, can they? I'd like to try one out when it's time for replacement of my IP7+ battery (last replaced May 2019 by Apple authorised service) but what concerns me is an unofficial battery exploding or other mishap.

Apparently original batteries are not available even with Apple. It's a 4 year old phone.

Well, I don't know about this very month but I know I got a genuine battery in May last year. Things may improve once the supply chain gets back to normal. My brother had his iPhone 5 screen phone replaced when it was 4.5 years old so stoppage of replacement parts is not an issue with Apple. I'd expect consumable and other frequently damaged parts like the screen to be available for at least 4-5 years.

Anyone upgraded their 6S to iOS 14? Though the reviews on internet seem to opine that performance issues and battery life is not a concern with 6S on ios14 but just wanted to get real feedback from team here. Have burnt fingers before with updates and it’s almost impossible to rollback.

Thanks.

Upgraded my 2016 SE to iOS 14, initial 2 days battery was jittery but it's settled now.

Thank you. That helps. Any performance issues like lag/ phone being slower than before?
