Thanks for all the help guys. I took dad to the i-store and he used both the 3gs and the 4 and he finally picked the 3gs considering the price and his personal usage.

I found it much better than my x10 and he seems to like it a lot. I will now be interacting more with you guys for tips and tricks.

Yes its a 8GB one. He is loving it right now. After using all the popular smartphone systems, I can say that ios is the king of all OS and my rankings are:

1. Ios
2. Android
3. A very poor perfoming bb os. I used OS 6.

I had to sell a 15 day old bb bold 3 coz the OS used to irritate me so much and then I bought an iphone 3gs.

The saying is so true, "if you don't have an iphone then you don't have an iphone." Period.

Guys, even though I'm using the iphone from the last 4 years, I still am naive about the upgrades and downgrades on it.

I have a Factory unlocked 3G with me right now and want to upgrade it to IOS4.

My questions are:
What will change if I do it?
Any hassles I should expect after I do it?
So i just say yes to the upgrade when I connect it to itunes and it does everything by itself?
What about photos, contacts, notes and calendar/events?

Please help me out here. Thanks.

BIG PROBLEM.

1. Yesterday when I gave my dad's credit card info at the app store. USD 1 was charged by them.

2. Right now I downloaded a free app and again USD 1 was charged by the app store. I downloaded weather HD free.

Please advice. Iphone 3gs.

Please log into iTunes, get the receipt id. And then send a mail to support team with all details like your apple id receipt id etc. They will get back within 2 days and resolve it. It has worked for me and I got the refund.

When you register yourself with iTunes, it will ask for CC details. On adding, 50$ would be deducted and the same would be refunded. Once activated the account, remove your CC details.

Just did a glass and digitizer replacement for an iphone 3gs 32gb of my boss.

It was successful, took 2 hours since it was done for first time and all it cost was $5.

An iphone repair shop takes $75-$100.

I am sure many of our members here must have done the same thing, but i just wanted to share my joy of a successful replacement.

I would suggest u remove your CC details. The workaround for this is before registering for iTunes go to the app store and select any free app and try downloading. It will ask u to register for iTunes but the input fields for the CC details won't appear and u can continue just like that. :-)

Iam looking for screen and digitizer for Iphone 2G, as it's not officially launched in India I don't get any support from Apple Store.

Can you let me know where can I get this and how to as well

They charged me too once (without any purchase) but they then paid me back immediately (without my intervention). Heck, it didn't even show up on my CC statement! I believe, the first time you register, Apple just tests your credit card.
