Read the T&Cs here and decide if it's worth the price to you.

While you get 'unlimited' coverage at face value, there's a fee-per-incident that varies by kind of damage, so you'll still be paying decent $$$ out of pocket every time you make a claim.

I know that it's like an insurance by Apple. Are there any alternative? Does this cover lost or stolen?
Apple Care + only covers damage/hardware malfunction for 24 months. Loss/Theft is not covered.

I opted for it 3 months ago when I picked up the new iPhone.
Personally - I take pretty good care of my phone. However since I run and am at the gym on and off, I did not want to worry about my phone breaking, I coughed up the ~20k for peace of mind. While the filing charges under the plan are 2.5k (screen) and 8.9k (other damage), out of pocket repairs are significantly higher - 50-55k is what I am told for the PM.

All in all, it's really upto you. Is it worth it ? depends on your use case. You have 60 days from date of purchase to opt for it.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Hi everyone,
Need help. Is iPhone 16 Pro (unlocked) from USA compatible with Indian eSim (Airtel or Jio) ? One of my friend is coming from USA to India and I asked to check for prices so that I can decide then, I noticed iPhone 16 series has only eSim, no physical slot!. Also is the warranty still intact here in India, just incase?

Please let me know.
Thank you.

Yes. It's compatible with Indian eSim. My iPhone 15 Pro Max is of USA version and have only eSim slots.

BTW, my iPhone is unlocked version and have the privilege to use 2 eSims (one is of USA one and another one is of Indian one).

From iPhone 15, Apple had made sure that US version should be sent without physical sim slots according to the US law while Indian version has physical slot.

Also, the warranty will be intact in India no matter wherever you purchase from as Apple offers global warranty on its products.

I got my 16 Pro from US few months back. Purchased a tempered glass and couple of cases as well (ESR and Spigen. With and without camera control button) as it was slightly cheaper there.

Vodafone kind of messed up the e-sim activation. Had to go to their store and get the backend team manually send the SMS.

Re: The iPhone Thread

iOS 18.3(22D63) is available in India. The file size was 700 MB. It says it brings improvement to visual intelligence along with other enhancements, bug fixes and security updates.

The visual intelligence is for iPhone 15 and above.

Updated and tested the visual intelligence that identifies plants. Tried it on some 10-12 plants and it identified all. Tried it on the cat, but nothing showed up . Guess the latest release is for plants/dogs.

Re: The iPhone Thread

So, hopped on to the Apple cart , once again, after a number of years in the ‘Droid verse. Reasons aplenty, primarily being consistency of interface and a somewhat refined feel, if not exactly flexible.
Got the 16 Pro Max, for a decent discount including an exchange of a not so old Samsung device. Still coming to terms with the enormity of the app set up and activation tasks. Hope to get decent photos as well. The bar was set pretty high with my Vivo X 100 pro.

Any issues with battery life?
Saw couple of reviews where they were complaining about it.

Welcome back to Apple world.
Do post a break up of the deal and from where you purchased it.

Yeah, it was quite a long think, but eventually took the proverbial bite. I picked it up from a local Croma store in Pune, and off the official MRP of INR 144900, they were running discounts for various credit cards + exchange bonus. Since I had a Samsung A series to dispose off, the deal came to around INR 112000~ . Which, I guess, is a decent deal for an Apple device.
I am just about done with the overall configuration and app transfer. I believe it will be a more stable/ consistently performing primary device in the long term even though I still think my (other) Vivo X100 pro has the edge in photography, especially low light and macro.
