The iPhone Thread
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadgets-computers-software/38465-iphone-thread-1038.html)
I was on the lookout for a secondary phone. Thought of getting an older iPhone. Saw 2 phones from OLX.
1. iPhone X 64 GB. Seller is asking for 16K final after negotiations.
2. iPhone 11 128 GB. Seller is asking 27K final after negotiations.
Both phones are in decent condition with no physical damage and all functions are working. The iPhone X is showing a warning for battery replacement and the iPhone 11 has 84% battery health.
Is is worth picking up any of these? Also what should be a fair price for them.
Or is it better to go for something like a new Pixel 6A?

Too expensive for such old phones. A Pixel 6A would be a better bet any day.
Noob question
We are not able to use the iphones on our home wifi (standard jio) for more than 2 mins. The iphones connect on all other wifi (office and other wifi). Have tried searching the internet but no solution. Can anyone help?

Where did you get these prices ? Individual sellers would be better. Cashify etc will price them almost double of what they get it for (I was checking the rates for an old iPhone 6s and my current iPhone SE 2017 - they quoted about 5k & 3k respectively).

The prices I quoted are what I got from individual sellers on OLX. Anyway I finally settled for a Pixel 6A. 2 months old, used only at home (seller was a pregnant woman who was advised bed rest). Along with the phone I got an Anker 20W charger and a black Spigen case plus a local case which was in use. The spigen was unused. Paid 25K for everything.

We can find good ones like these sometimes. With the 13 mini not being available in stores, I was contemplating to get one from the US. But found that a cousin's classmate had one which her mother had used for 2 days - she found it small & not comfortable with IOS. Picked up that at a good price, and it worked for both sides, though the color was not one I wanted.
iOS 16.3 or whatever I had was having severe issues of Battery drain, overheating and idle battery consumption. Even charging would stop so many times due to overheating. That seems to have been solved on my iPhone 13 pro.
Anyone facing issues with receiving notification? Mine is an iPhone 13 recently updated to iOS 16.4. Today morning onwards, I notice that no notifications are coming, be it WhatsApp, Outlook email, or any app alerts. Only when I open WhatsApp/Outlook, it gets refreshed, and I see all the notifications together.
I tried restarting, but it's still the same.
Travelling through Singapore this coming weekend. Thinking of picking up the 14 in the new yellow shade. With the ability to claim back GST when leaving Singapore, would it be worth it to buy it from there or better value to just get it in India?
I do have 2 phones that I am carrying with me that I would be happy to exchange if that is even an option in Singapore:
- S21 5G
- S20 FE 5G
Anyone know of any good places or shops to get a good deal in Singapore?
Thanks.

No issues for me, on 16.4 and 12 Mini.

I assume iPhone will be cheaper to buy in Singapore (and 8% GST refund) compared to India.

You probably won’t get much in resale for the above listed models. From what I have seen, iPhones are the king of resale, followed by previous year’s Samsung flagships. You got a faint chance of selling the S21, but the S20 FE surely will be washout. You can try in any of the mobile shops that sell second hand phones (usually seen around MRT stations, HDB estates, or in Sim Lim Square). And most shops here will expect you to give the original box + accessories that came along in the box.

Thanks. If I buy at Changi in duty free is it actually cheaper or same price as buying in a retail store? Any suggestions for retail stores besides the Apple Store?
Also if I pre book on the ishopchangi website it works out to SG$1050 with offers which is quite cheap I believe. Anyone used this before?

ishopchangi is airport duty-free's online shop, so the prices should be same. Retail stores normally has the same price as the Apple Store.
My iPhone 14 stops charging every now and then after it crosses about 85 % saying 'Charging on hold and will restart once the phone cools down'. It does start automatically after some time, but this results in very long charging times from 85 to 100, so much that I charge it only to 90% now. I use the Samsung wireless charger and not the mag-safe charger. I have switched off 'optimized charging' so that it does not try to slow down to protect the battery. Do Iphones exhibit unreliable charging with non-magsafe chargers? I was thinking any Qi-certified charger will work.

I use this

I use android but do the maintenance side of 5 apple devices within the family , no problem so far except for placement which needs little attention to place the phone centrally, slow charging and mild heating.
