Infractions: 0/1 (5)

if any of the parts go bust , replacing them might be an issue .
256MB of SDRAM costs almost as much as 1GB of DDR2 RAM...

And here comes another company with the same computer for 3.5 grand! Linky. The cheap price makes me concerned about reliability.

Yes, catch is lower configuration. 6K PC - P III - RAM - HDD = 3.5K PC. People usually earn on up-gradations and AMCs on these type of PCs. Was shocked to see the 3.5K pc claim to run WinXP and Office XP on it, that too smoothly

6K One
- P-III Intel Processor.
- 810 E motherboard.
- 256 MB SD RAM.
- 10 GB HDD expandable to 80 GB and above.
- 10/100 Lan card for connecting to broadband, Internet connectivity etc.
- 56 Kbps fax modem voice V 90.
- Creative Sound card.
- Keyboard With TouchpadMouse
- 2 stereo JBL Speaker.
- 3 USB ports.
- 14" colour monitor, 0.28 DP, 1024 x 768 integrated.
- All manuals, cables, original Intel sealed box packing.

3.5K One
- Celeron 300 CPU expandable to PIII 1.2 Ghz.
- 810 E motherboard.
- 64 MB SD RAM, DIMM's, expandable to 256 MB.
- 4.3 GB HDD expandable to 80 GB and above.
- 10 / 100, ethernet / lan card for connecting to server, broadband connectivity etc.
- 56 Kbps fax modem voice V 90.
- Sound card.
- Compact keyboard.
- 2 stereo speakers in built.
- Touchpad mouse in built in the keyboard.
- 3 USB 1.1 ports.
- 14" colour monitor, 0.28 DP, 1024 x 768 integrated.
- Runs win xp and office xp nicely
- All manuals, cables, original Intel sealed box packing.

hey gto,

bigapple is the company which has been selling this system in hyd from that past so many years for the 3.5k price.

i couldnt go along with my friend who wanted to purchase it for his niece, but according to him, it was ok, when enquired about the service, he was informed they have all the parts and he can get the system upgraded to higher specs as and when he wanted. in his opinion this was perfect for beginners and mostly for kids esp due to the unique shape of the system. he was confused about the warranty wheter it was full or just service warranty which he intends to clear out when he goes to pick up a system.

With this spec, even Win XP + Office XP (or Outlook Express) + 2/3 instances of IE will feel sluggish.

And that I imagine would be usage for a typical office PC user.

So, not sure if this spec is good for that purpose.

On the other hand, this is the spec that can run Tally very well to enter vouchers.

read more about it at the above link. I think it is a second hand computer, good for schools, students and the like. Pretty useless where more processing power is required. Can't say any thing about its reliability.

thought so.. but i guess it will still sell.. Rs 3500 is too enticing a price esp for many first time computer users.

ps: if it were a bought in as scrap, how would it still have the orginal intel covers / seals / boxes as claimed by seller?

the reliability is no issue here, GTO, they were no mass sellers just because they were P-III based systems, i first saw this in Hyderabad's ctc(chenoy trade center) famous for the computer shopping here. way back in 2004 when we first bought AMD atholon for my cousin.

they were earlier made and sold by intel itself!, they even came with a phone on top of the monitor apart from all the mentioned features for the VOIP when the phone wala cards were on the raise and PC to phone calls were just catching on in the 2004, and were priced around 7500 back then and had CRT 14" monitors.

the fact that they lack space for additional cd drives and the hard disk can be a max of 80GB and the ram was SDram which is very costly to buy as costly as 3000bucks for a GB is what killed them, and more over the highend graphic cards could not be put on as upgrades so was not all that popular, and they never advertised this product very well.

this is only good for pure office purpose alone, the internet and the office use, how ever this is very useful for the software programmers as it has the same versality in terms of graphic usage as the early P-IVs and was way cheaper combo pack.

if the use is meant for pure office purposes then this is just perfect machine. but will need effective cooling as every thing is bundled into one!

hey rider, i dont think the phone is meant for voip, since the main use of the machine was intended to be for internet surfing ( which mostly via a phone line in prev days, for which there is an intergated phone jack on the system) it's for general calls only.
