Budget is around $300 - will buy it in a store in US, probably Best Buy or Fry's. Never trusted online buying!

Though the AA batteries make the housing fatter on one end, it is actually an advantage while shooting one handed - easier to grip!

best cam shops are bhphotovideo and adrorama
Fujifilm | F80EXR 12 MP Digital Point and Shoot | 16000480 | B&H

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...al_Camera.html
(the ZS7 is also under $300 but I have no idea what it offers that the ZS3 does not have)

4246B001 Canon PowerShot SX210 IS Digital Camera with 14.1 Megapixel, HD720p, Dynamic IS, Miniture Effect, Smart Suffle - Black - U.S.A. Warranty

I also saw the Sony DSC-HX5V selling for under 300 on pricegrabber some time back.

HX-5V has sony's exmor (backlit CMOS, also found in funi HS10 and casio FH series) which not really stellar when it comes to image quality. Does have innovative features though.

Guys i am looking for a p&s camera which have good pic quality, good zoom and lots of manual settings.

My budget is less than 15k.

I have short listed two options
1. Fuji finepix s1800
2. Canon powershot SX120IS

As I am just a beginner in the field of photography I am not so good with brands and specs.

Guys I need an expert opinion from you. Which one should I go for? Or should I try any other models in this range.

Please help me guys.

Best Regards,

This makes me even confused.

I like the fuji more in features wise and look wise. But not sure about the quality.

Does sx120 makes good pics than s1800?

s1800 price in kochi is 14k.

Picked up a Canon Powershot SX210 IS for US$320 from Fry's. Haven't tested it seriously so far, but it feels good. The UI is a bit wonky - not as good as a Panasonic.

Stretch your budget to 16k and get the Panasonic FZ35.

You'll never regret.

I have used the SX120IS once, I felt its wonderful. For just 9500/-, its a total VFM product and its not heavy or bulky considering it is 10X optical zoom and f number starting at 2.8. I liked the way it produces lovely colors in the cloud settings in the white balance settings.

One down side of the sx120 is, its plastic feel. But for a camera under 10K, you cant expect it to be built like the A610!!!

The first camera i decided was the nikon p100. It was really out of budget.

Money is an issue to me my friend.

The site is showing ~1k less price for the s1800 than the shop in our place. So adding that margin to the fz35 its a 17k!

which make me do this

Keep away from SX120IS. I'm totally disappointed by the images clicked. I tried many settings, but pictures lack depth. IMHO, SX100IS is far better and a great cam.

I'll never recommend this cam to anyone.

Thanks,
Jose.

Would the Nikon P90 work out for you ?

Lots of Manual Control and no worries with the Image quality either.

12.1 MP and 24x optical zoom at 14,095. Still thinking ?

Nikon Coolpix P90 12.1 MP & 24X Optical Zoom ? Smart Shoppers Deals with Digital Camera, Camera Lenses, SLR Digital Camera, Laptops, Ipod and Mobile Phones in India.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions, I won't be buying it online. The shop price for P100 is 20k in cochin. According to the nikon site P90 is 1k expensive than P100 Nikon India Private Limited Nikon India Private Limited So it will be having some 21 to 22k in shop. The price for the fz35 is 17990 in Cochin. And the shop doesn't have stock. They said the company have stopped supplying fz35!! I thinking of going back to fuji.

I have a last suggestion for you. The Fujifilm S2500 HD.

I'm using it and I am happy with what it offers for the price.

FujiFilm FinePix S2500 12MP, 18x Optical Zoom - 2 Years Manufacturer Warranty

Here is one pic I took at Munnar

I think the only difference between s1800 and s2500hd is the video. s1800 records at 720p and 2500hd records at 1080p. Everything else including the sensor is same for both. So am finalizing s1800. (oh, the price diff is 2k) Did u do any PP in the image?
