Dont know about the price of the warranty version, but for a good idea of the grey market price of any cam one can check Ebay India, the prices are reflective of the grey market price or are 500 bucks lesser.
TZ5 is listed at 15.5K at the moment.

Does it have a G9 on display or G10?
Asking that as, the G9 was launched in india in july/August this year while it cam out in october last year, but now G9 isnt listed as a new item on the canon india site contrary to how the G7 stayed new for ages.

Didn't find TZ5 here but Panasonic Lumix LX2 is available for 18k. How is it?

I find ebay india prices to be higher than grey, and in some cases even higher than retail with B&W

Lumix LX3 is in a league of its own!
Canon G10 didn't make it, it got just Recommended rating. Canon PowerShot G10 Review: 24. Conclusion: Digital Photography Review

Apologies then!
I just have experience with 2 cams with were new in the market, ebay india prices were upto 2K lesser than the hyd grey market price but I was(am) weary of buying off ebay for some reason.
by B&W, do u refer to a USA site?

ahhh! I was totally not expecting that.
In a way, I'm glad to know!
helps me rule out the G10, I would have actually bought it next weekend had you not posted the review link.
Not just the rating but the cons part, i was looking for improvements over the G9, Slight noise base iso and metering issues in bright conditions are two major things they havent fixed over the G9. and a major new issue-Some chromatic aberration visible at wide end of zoom in all shots
Was looking for a new 28mm cam, think its going to be the panny LX3 now. Was wanting to get the G10 but doesnt make sense to have the G9 and G10 which have the very same drawbacks. The G9 stays either way, its a neat cam.

Would like to mention about the experience I had with Canon while trying to acquire a G9 last october but it'd sound more like a rant.

LX2 has been succeeded by the excellent LX3. LX2 as an overall package is not that great.

Please avoid opting for a Panasonic camera in India

Please avoid opting for a Panasonic Camera- if you stay in India.
Panasonic has numerous distributors and retailers spanning the length and width of India, but they don't have any such similar setup for Customer Care or Service! If I'm not wrong, it's a single digit figure!! If I'm still not wrong, it's a single ONE!!!
My personal experience.
To feel it- buy their products and JHELOO!.

I understand, but currently Panasonic Lumix provides the best features among P&S. None of the other bigger camera makers are even coming close.

Look for a compact P&S that has 28mm wide, 10x zoom and IS, scores of only Pany and Ricoh will show up. Look for an ultra-compact with 28mm wide and high-def video, only Pany and Leica will show up.

Out of the 9 P&S than made DPReview's HR rating in 2007-2008, only two have 28mm wide, both are Panasonic.

Just use it carefully, these cameras don't go bad that easily.
