JKDas,

is it a dealer offer, or Canon offer? in delhi there are hardly many TATA ELXSI people! I doubt if offer would be valid either.

On a different note...
before any one buying lens... a visit to this page might be useful. Picked it up from some thread in dpreview.

If you download DPP etc., the problem is that you cannot use it unless you have an older version already installed.
As for 1000D etc., software for all cams is same,
For transferring files to computer you have the EOS utility which works with all canon DSLRs
Then you have the Zoombrowser EX, which gain works with all canon cams

Tanveer, I don't have ANY software that came with the cam. My laptop crashed, so had to format it. In between all this my mom managed to lose the software CD that came with the camera while shifting homes. Right now, all I am doing is transferring pics directly off the memory card reader and using Picassa.

The problem is that you will find "updaters" on canon website
EOS (SLR) Camera Systems - EOS Digital SLR Cameras - EOS 35mm SLR Cameras - Lenses - Flashes - Digital SLR Camera - EOS-1Ds - Canon USA Consumer Products
So unless you have original software installed, you cannot install downloaded software, unless you do some registry hanky panky.
I have no idea how to do that.
I suggest you get in touch with some canon camera owner(any digital SLR will do), and get the CD from him.
1000D used the same software as other cams
Softwares you should install
1. Must have
EOS Utility - Transfer images
Zoom Browser EX - Viewer
Raw image task - Process raw images
2. Optional
Canon DPP
Canon Photostich

Exactly! I was just echoing the same thought to everyone today. I bought it at 43.5k in March. Now its 47 odd with lens and warranty.

there is a used one available on classifieds i mean an S3IS.

If you want S5, just wondering if I should put my S5 on classifieds. Its a rarely used one with just 300 shots so far

There was 1 single hot pixel on sensor which is normal but still got the whole sensor unit replaced a few days back in warranty and its doing gr8 guns

Guys, I have a big problem here. Apparently, the software CD is not the only thing thats missing. The charger and battery are missing too during the shifting of homes. Now I am stuck with no battery and charger. Do you guys suggest I pick them up in Bangalore itself? If so from where? Or is it better to get it shipped from the US or elsewhere. If so, any leads to trusted websites please?

Try Jayesh (Photo Circle - Chikpet) or Naresh (R.K Photo guide) near National market, if you are buying from Bangalore.
