This is just disappointing from a supposedly top OEM like Samsung. they sell their latest flagship S series with a 7-year regular updates promise. Now that feels more like a liability.

Most users would prefer to run their phones on the not so latest android version than dealing with these annoying bugs and bloatware that come with these software enhancements.

I believe Motorola is the best so far. They offer fairly clean software, more than decent hardware, and very less of these Android updates!

So update to this ordeal which has yet not ended.

Note: The mobile is at the service station since 10th of July, Imagine that. A month and half and still no solution by Samsung

I had a person on my LinkedIn who has a higher up at Samsung Mobile and handled their mobile division. I pinged him and told him the ordeal, he forwarded my message to his customer care head who assigned someone to me.

Since one week, he is saying will sort this out, give me 1 day, 2 days. Until on Friday he said we will replace the motherboard and display and you pay half the cost, half will be Samsung, that comes to me paying 30 thousand,

I contested and said your software broke it, you fix it, why should I pay?

On Saturday he comes back with the service station folks are saying the phone is working fine without any replacement? I counter back saying, one day its motherboard + display, today its working fine without any replacement, what is going on?

He said, give me till Monday aka today to figure out and come up with a final solution and verdict.

I would never recommend anyone to buy a Samsung device/appliance ever.

Reading this Samsung Twitter reply section will send a shock down your spine if you ever think of purchasing a Samsung.

I recently shifted back to using Samsung. In my family (everyone) is using some S series from Samsung or the other, touchwood, no issues as such, just that, ideally, we wait for a week to ten days post an update alert comes.

I was more wary of iOS updates on the phone, not recent, but 5 to 10 years back, had to use iTunes for recovery.

I have a Samsung M31s bought 2021. It was working properly all this time without any issues. About 2-3 months back, there was an update from Samsung which I installed on my phone. After a few days, the phone's screen froze and I tried a force restart. The mobile would show the splash screen with the device name and then get stuck. No matter, how many times I tried, I could not get it to start again. Finally took it to a mobile shop and the first question they asked me if I had done any recent update on the phone. They told me that the GPU chip is fried and would need to be replaced. Samsung would replace the entire motherboard. The shop replaced the GPU which cost me Rs. 2500 and the phone has started to work again. Wondering if I should do a factory reset of my phone now. Samsung updates are a gamble.

Might be little too late in the day. But Samsung is fixing the screen free of cost and they are also throwing in a new battery for your troubles if your phone is less than 3 years old.
Got my S20+ fixed through this and it works like a charm.
It is now a spare phone as in the past few months the phone was heating up excessively on long calls.

Replaced it with a Pixel 8. Happy so far especially the smaller form factor.

You have to contact Samsung support on WhatsApp chat and get the process going.
You will also need your purchase invoice showing a date less than 3 years from the day you hand over your phone at the service center.

Edit: sorry the offer seems to have expired in April 2024.

You could still try your luck with Samsung Care.

Never expected to add my own misfortune on this thread.

But after the update came into my S22 Ultra, the dreaded Green Line has made its appearance on the display.

Keeping it at 60 hz currently as the green line only appears at the 120 hz.

Oh Man.

I got my phone back. They changed the mother board, screen, charging circuit. The invoice of this was some 64 thousand and I fought for so long, got it down to 30 thousand, but that's a lot of money too. Why should I have to spend anything on something Samsung released and ruined my phone with?

First thing I did after getting the phone back is switch updates off.

Its been around 25 days since I got the phone, seems to be running well, but this is my last Samsung. Next one is an iPhone for sure.

I keep checking out Samsung's Twitter page, the horror there is tremendous everyday.

The government seems to be sleeping, how can manufacturers be allowed to get away with such device defying updates?

Can we make this thread famous? Make it appear on the homepage?

My friends kept pushing me to go and check the phone at a different service center.

In the last week of December, I did just that.
The service guy checked the phone and said that the only "damage" he can see is a very tiny scratch on the edge of the phone.

He took it in.
I got it back today after almost 22 days.

They replaced the screen free of cost.

Except for the delay...I am super happy with the service experience.

Phone is as good as new now.
