For sms it is not possible and the complete sms is already included.
For calls I do fill but BSNL ignores it completely.

Re: Advanced Guide - Reducing unwanted spam calls drastically on Android Phones

Started using the app to report callers. Started spreading the word as well.

Truecaller has been a boon as well as a bane when it comes to general usage. But as a policy, I don't like TrueCaller even though we are forced to use it.

The TRAI DND App has the potential to help stop these unsolicited calls for good.

If we end up using this app without using TrueCaller, we will end up answering all calls. If the call is an Unsolicited Commercial Call, immediately report and be done with it. Keep doing this for long enough and this menace should stop.

On a usability front, I am making my 2nd complaint right now but the UI is stuck on "Please wait". I waited and it went back to the main screen. Then when I checked the complaint status, I could see only 1 complaint (not the 2nd one).

I hope the app is reliable in what it claims to do and help resolve the issue for good.

Can some of the iOS stalwarts advise on what strategy to follow? I’m usually plagued by robocalls nowadays.
Send a text message (SMS) to 1909 in the following format -

Quote:
Description of spam call,<phone number>,<dd/mm/yyyy>

Like I'd said in an earlier post on this thread, +9140 is not the same as area code 140.

+9140 is Hyderabad, and many valid services call from there.

140 or +91140 is the area code alloted to registered telemarketers registered with NCPCR.

Re: Advanced Guide - Reducing unwanted spam calls drastically on Android Phones

Just installed the TRAI DND app and reported 1st case. Fingers crossed.
Hope this turns out to be a great help as these unsolicited calls break the flow of thoughts in IKIGAI phase.

Re: Advanced Guide - Reducing unwanted spam calls drastically on Android Phones

On iOS, in addition to TrueCaller, I do the following to silence unknown callers. They show up in missed calls. I can then decide what to do. Important numbers belong in contacts.

Thanks Shankar but no can do. My number is unfortunately the primary number for ALL online e-commerce. Everything gets routed through it and I cannot silence it for all unknown callers. Latest fad is robocalls from landlines. Insanely irritating I tell you.

Add to this, I am not a Truecaller fan either. Have never used it and delisted my number as soon as they rolled out the feature long back.

I'll try the 1909 thing with SMS although I tend to get spam less nowadays.

Possibly the people sitting at the receiving end of this complaint are checking it with closed eyes
I haven't had any spam SMS to report, so cannot comment on that part.

They probably have location specific numbers. Whenever I book a cab on Uber in Hyderabad, the number they call from is +9140 series. Previously the driver used to call from his own number, but they stopped it due to privacy concerns and setup a dedicated bridge number instead. Even if I call the driver, it routes through the Uber network, can't see the driver's number directly.

Not taking away any credit from the OP of this thread. This guide is a lifesaver for sure, particularly since the spammers somehow seem to sense I'm in an important meeting or having lunch and call me then. For the past few months, never got a spam call when I was just sitting idle. Phone rings as soon as I walk into a meeting room etc.

SMS number is the same for all operators - 1909.

Email for Airtel is 121@in.airtel.com. Make sure you have your own mobile number in the subject of the email so that their CRM can pick it up.

There are operator-specific message content formats. They all will need your report to contain date/time of call, incoming call number (in E.164 format) and category of spam.

I think the operator-specific apps will also have spam reporting options. In Airtel it is under Manage DND > Complaints.

Re: Advanced Guide - Reducing unwanted spam calls drastically on Android Phones

I have a weird issue with the Trai DND app. It is not letting me report callers stating that I am not registered for DND (the setting menu in the DND app confirms this). I have registered for it using the My Jio app and when I send an SMS to 1909, it states that I am already registered. Anyone else has faced this issue?

Try to disable DND, wait for the given timeframe & re-enable it.

Another telemarketer bites the dust.
Just received an update from VI (Apparently they act faster compared to Airtel)

Re: Advanced Guide - Reducing unwanted spam calls drastically on Android Phones

Happy to have followed the Android TRAI DND 3.0 spam reporting and calls have reduced drastically. Only thing is to answer for a few seconds for the app to record an incoming call and then you can easily report the issue.
