Hi guys,

Please help out with a solution. Running Windows 10 with all updates & Chrome on latest version too.

- Whenever I am surfing threads on reddit.com, Chrome becomes unresponsive.

- A few seconds later, the laptop screen goes blank, but the keyboard is still illuminated.

- Only solution = I press the standby button, laptop goes to sleep, then I wake it up and start off where I left.

- This is primarily happening on Reddit threads, but since yesterday, has also started happening on Team-BHP edit windows. Example, if I go to reply to a PM or edit the thread title.

Step #1 - When such erratic behavior occurs with Chrome - Simply clear all browsing history, clear cookies, delete temporary files, close & start Chrome. That should fix all the issues. If not...
Step #2 - Reinstall Chrome which will certainly fix the issues


Another option - Pls open Chrome in incognito mode & see if it helps as well

I think it is high time to forget 'Chrome' and shift to 'Brave'. Much better.

Brave browser is built on Google Chrome, with a few additional features. If these websites load on Brave but not on Chrome, you can completely ditch Chrome (after trying out other suggestions given on this thread)

It has been happening with Chrome across the board with the latest updates. The root cause is yet to be identified.

For me CNN always freezes Chrome and then shuts down the browser process.

For now, use another browser until they find a cure to this.

It's happened to me on Chrome + Boodmo.com

I use Chrome in Incognito mode - multiple windows, multiple tabs. No issues noticed, including an occasional visit to reddit. Definitely not with TBHP.

Is try the following:

1. Turn off video auto run on reddit. Hidden in the preferences
2. Get uBlock origin ad-block
3. Turn off unnecessary extensions on chrome
4. Uninstall and re-install chrome
5. Create a new windows user and try using reddit there with options 1,2 &3 mentioned above

Do you have any dynamic/live screensaver enabled which might get triggered when you're reading for a long time without user input ?

Chrome is now an embarrassment for Google; the tech gurus would have classified it so almost a year back but it is not from Microsoft rl:

Classic the emperor has no cloths moment.

On the contrary, I never faced any such issues on Chrome, even with 20-30 tabs open full of Youtube videos / TeamBhp threads and likes. However my Laptop config is beefy (32GB RAM + 9th Gen i5 Processor). The issues mentioned above is faced by me when using Samsung Internet browser on my Galaxy S20+ mobile.

I hope no external browser extensions are causing this, or maybe a poorly coded webpage.

May I suggest a switch to good old Firefox - the last bastion of privacy as far as browsers are concerned?
I have been using Firefox since long and it works for me perfectly so much that I use Firefox on my android phone as well (search bar on the bottom takes the cake)!
IIRC, all other browsers be it brave, edge, opera all are chromium based and not much different from chrome. You can try Edge as well, it is really good now.

I am facing issue to log in every time (using the QR code) on WhatsApp on Chrome on a Windows PC. The same Chrome works fine on a Mac. What gives?

Not sure if it is network problem, but have trouble accessing Gmail and Google search in Chrome. Yesterday couldn't download any attachment files from emails, but worked after the classic restarting the system

But TeamBHP seems to be working fine, even if the Google search page doesn't come :confused:

I had that issue in Chrome for windows. Now it doesn't ask for it but the chats are horribly out of sync with the phone. Stopped using WhatsApp on the PC.
