Here's my history -

Samsung SGH-2400
iMate Smartphone 2
Eten Glofiish X500
Eten Glofiish X500 (Again)
Eten Glofiish M700
HTC Tytn 2
Samsung Galaxy S1
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Died - Well known board bug)
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (Died - Common screen issue affecting S9/N9 etc)
iPhone 6
iPhone 12 (2 weeks old)
Next Hopefully - iPhone 13 Pro Max soon

Just got an Iphone 12 mini in Flipkart Big Billion days sale for a good discounted value. Exchanged my 5 year old Iphone 7 which was still running on stock battery with 69% battery health. Coming from an Iphone 7, this is a huge upgrade for me in all ways - be it display, clarity, speed, apps, camera, battery life and features.

However, what I miss dearly is the touch ID, which was very convenient to use. While Face ID is quick but does not match the benefits of Touch ID right from checking the screen while it is on a table or flat surface to opening a phone without taking off mask.

Moto X Play - 6 years and counting! :thumbs up
Before that, Sony Xperia Pro and Sony Ericsson k550i, 4 years each - so 3 phones in 14 years.

4 years is a decent cycle for a phone upgrade IMO, and if one does not do any financial transactions through phone (other than PayTM wallet or similar), then even after security updates stop, few more years of life can be extracted out of it.
