hi guys, Can anyone tell me if there is any standard dimensions for Dish Washers? The query is because i am constructing a house and wanted to make sure i have enough place to plonk one in when needed.
Secondly, do all Dish Washers come with heaters to heat up water? Or should I be providing plumbing for hot water from the solar heater?

I don't think anybody would make dishwashers without in-built heaters because unlike clothes washing machines (top loaders, esp.), dishwashers cannot give even acceptable results without hot water. However, though the machine may have an in-built heater, you may still want to use hot water from your solar heater, and in doing so you would be saving a lot on the machine's power consumption.

AFAIK at least Siemens does. Don't know if they are made here or imported. IFB's dishwashers are imported from Italy (at least thats what I'v been told...).

^^^I guess I'd posted few comments on our IFB dishwasher earlier. Yes, if it works well, it gives pretty good results. Sticky stuff obviously needs hotter temps and longer wash cycles (more power, detergent). Glass, crockery, etc., are the easiest to clean and will come out sparkling (even if very soiled), with even the shorter wash cycles.

But the whole point is that it has to work at the optimum. Ours stopped doing that after 2 months or so... long story. Please check earlier posts in this thread for more details.

Termeric stains? On what? I don't think it stains glass or stainless? Yes it could stain plastic, i guess. But IFB's detergent contains Cl and hence will fade that stain more than any conventional SLES based dishwashing detergent.

Hi BSD, I too tried searching for it on the IFB site, but of no avail, there is no mention anywhere, the most advanced IFB machines in the market/website which is "Digital SX" is quite many steps below this 9/7WD

I haven't used IFB dishwashers, but I have used dishwashers abroad for donkey's years. They are effective for indian kind of cooking also. You just need to do a mild rinse before loading any vessel into the dishwasher - be it indian cooking or any cooking.
