We had a BOSCH WM and while they work pretty well. The service and the spare parts are quite expensive. Do consider that prior to purchasing them.

After raising multiple complaints and escalating through the store from where I purchased the water purifier, the technician finally showed up when I was not home and left after saying that the filter needs to be changed. Later I got a call from the service centre to provide an otp for closing the complaint but the otp was for logging into my account, not close the request. In fact, the sms clearly said not to share it with their staff or anyone else. On denying to provide the same, the person on the other end got aggressive and hung up after threatening me that no body from their service centre will attend to my requests going forward.

This is in Trivandrum and a neighbour also said they are not at all happy with the service. I will find some third party going forward but want to take the ASC to task.

Instant water heaters need to have higher Watt heating elements as they have to heat fast. Storage water heaters can have 1 KW, 1.5 KW or 2 KW (they may also have 3 kW) elements.

Thanks for sharing - for that exact reason (and some other minor aspects), we are considering the washer/dryer combo options; and LG is primarily top of our list. Primarily 9kg/5kg FHD0905SWM - is the model we are considering.

Anything else that we should keep in mind with regards to the LG options at hand?

You already have good responses from others. Only thing I would add is suggesting to pick any from LG/Samsung/Whirlpool - they all offer similar models with 'drum' based washing machine models. But try to opt for the model with maximum comprehensive warranty (rather than the motor warranty).

Indeed. Instant geysers heat fast a small amount of water. As input am feeding the solar water, 2KW should more than suffice to heat a liter of warm water. The load sanctioned for the unit is 4KW and as we have 2 bathrooms, can go for max 2KW instant geysers.

I see these instant geysers with 1 liter and 2KW rating in Mumbai apartments a lot. But they are all from small brands. Looking for reliable heater of similar configuration in B'lore.

The link above is of a storage water heater, which is not what am looking out for.

You could explore the possibility of installing the heater right after the solar heater. That way one heater is sufficient instead of two of them. It also helps that the plumbing will be simpler.

I am using this setup. The only con is, both the bathrooms may not be able to get the hot water simulataenously, as the 3kw heater may not be able to cater to the load. Even if the solar water is well heated, the pressure reduces as it passes through the electric water heater and so may not work well when both the bathrooms neeed hot water at the same time. If you can live with this, then it's easier to install the heater right next to the solar heater (with adequate shelter for the heater from the natural elements).

Long ago I used to have Venus instant geyser (in Bangalore). Not sure if they still make it but you can check. It worked well and lasted long. IIRC it was 2kw model.

Hi All,

I am thinking of getting an air fryer for the family. But some of my family members are worried about the Teflon coating used in the air fryer basket.

I do see some models that are air fryer ovens that have stainless steel used inside but they seem quite expensive (close to the price of a general convection oven that we already have at our place).

Some reviews on Amazon do mention the coating of air fryer peeling off but I was hoping that getting a unit from Philips might be safe enough.

Folks who have used air fryers for a long time - does the Teflon layer get damaged (even if we take care to wash it with proper precautions) and if so, can we easily (and economically) just replace the basket?

I don't think I'd welcome that either. Surely there are better modern alternatives?

The "non-stick" layer on my pan-of-oil deep-fry basket is forty years of ingrained oil!

(yes it has been washed, but never back to bare metal. That would take something serious like a caustic soda bath)

Philips air fryer in use from at least 2014. Used to cost double what they do now. Used almost daily, both for cooking & reheating. Black coating on the basket is still intact. No special precautions taken when washing & cleaning.

I am given to understand (ref linked video) that while some of these “air fryer ovens” do have convection fans capable of greater airflow, many of them are simply a gimmick with the convection button labelled “air fry”.

My grandmother has an all-steel Inalsa unit because my Uncle had concerns about the Teflon releasing polymer fumes but frankly I have found that everything it can do can be done in my Philips toaster oven with convection. Of course if you constrain the resources (time, power etc.) that may change.

Checked this out, none of the venus instant geyser models are at 2KW rating.
I am OK with any decent local brands also. Please suggest.
