Re: The Home Appliance thread

We have a Haier 260L Double-Door Refrigerator in our weekend home outside of Kolkata.
Being a moisture-laden environment, the Evaporator Fan Motor gets stuck and cooling stops.

Questions :
1. Should we keep the fridge ON during the time we are away? We visit once a month/two months.

2. Is it better to replace the fan motor with a locally sourced part multiple times than go for the authorized part? It did cost us 2.2K for a single change of part by the Haier technician.

Anyone using an all induction hob or cooktop here? I am considering to purchase one from the US whenever I travel next (if at all). I am trying to reduce the heat in the kitchen as I think we will avoid a cook for sometime now. Any pointers will be much appreciated.

Make sure that you get a 220V and not 110V version. Otherwise you will need a high power transformer.

I checked and many hobs are rated to run at 240V. There is also a large variation in price from 300$ to 2500$ and upward.
My wife tried our single burner Philips today (link below) and finished lunch in a jiffy. Wondering if I just buy two more of these and keep them side by side

I have a Bosch 12 plate one, which is pretty good. If you don't like Bosch, go for IFB, both are good.
The key thing is to check for after sales service presence. Both IFB and Bosch are good.

Lg dishwasher at 49k is a good price, I remember seeing display prices at 54k in reliance, 52k in Croma, may I know where you were able to get it at 49k, also has installation been done recently..

Any pointers on table fans please.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

We (my parents) have an IFB Neptune VX or something (12 plate settings, top model) that we bought in October 2019. It started showing F5 error in Feb 2020. It would wash and rinse the dishes once fine and was stopping at the steaming cycle at precisely 21 mins in super 50 mode. Now it has started working fine on its own. I'd say BOSCH makes superior products as compared to the competition.

Our IFB dishwasher washes the dishes (stainless steel) with excellent results btw. We have a habit of running the dishes through water once after eating (before the food residue gets dried up and sticks more firmly to the dishes) so that less residue goes in the dishwasher/filter thus requiring lesser end user maintenance.

I have a Bosch. Couldn't buy LG as it wasn't easily available and also costly 2 years back. Bosch service even in a metro city isn't quite good. Whereas LG is top notch for me. I'd always buy a LG appliance for its service if other things are comparable.

More details will help

How many folks at home, their age profile or preferences. Any brand preference?

Above 300 but how much?

Do you have space constraints?

I purchased 4 of these fans for a room with a 20ft ceiling from Malaysia last year. They have a rotating front plate giving the same effect of rotation side to side. This is a pretty nifty feature. I also picked up two other models from the US, one with large blades and another smaller one but very powerful with a throw reaching 15ft. You need to decide what you need and purchase accordingly. All these three variants have different throw rates and coverage areas. The pic attached is good for a table as it rotates and can be stopped at a specific position too.

Since it is infrequently used and I presume you dont keep any things in it to cool, I suggest you keep the fridge switched off and keep the main and freezer doors slightly ajar. Perhaps keep a glass or hard thing to prevent accidental closure of the door. This will prevent moss/ fungus from accumulating for the period it is switched off.

We have about 4 adults and a kid at home, but no space for side by side refrigerator.

Looking at brands such as Whirlpool, LG & Samsung but no sure about Haier.

The wife demands one which has got good space and consumes less energy.

Once the appliances shops are open need to narrow down on models.

Any guidance based on what your guys currently at home and the reliability of the refrigerator

Cheers
