Re: The Home Appliance thread / Ceiling Fans

@ Khoj: Thanks. I know Havells is responsive, friends who own hotels here have just changed over to Havells due to the electricity savings reported on literature, will have to wait for complaints, response etc.,

My experience with Crompton is good, so decision is tilting towards old brands.

@ Aroy: Thangs again. I am using double ball bearing fans now, some of them as old as 5 years without any service, 2 of them have been serviced to reduce sounds. I would go for copper winding ones and take a bill with warranty, makes sense to pay a little extra to get covered for at lest some time.

You may want to contact Havell's toll free complaint number and the company will send out a technician to set things right. I have used this service myself for Crabtree switches that I bought from them nearly 5 odd years ago and they were pretty quick to respond.

..............

In our house all of the bedrooms have Usha fans which are of the same vintage as that mentioned by you. Their regulators though have not lasted and have been since been replaced but the fans soldier on quietly and efficiently.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

Gurus,

Am looking for Video door phone soon to be installed at my place. What critera should I be looking for when buying a Video door phone? Colour or Black n white? Screen size? etc. What are the popular brands available and which one are the best in terms of service and quality. What cost should I be budgeting?

I am aware that brands like Godrej, Eureka Forbes, Zicom etc are in the market. Any additional help from BHPians would be appreciated.

Go with Samsung or Honeywell (HS6270)
Minimum TFT size 7 Inch color is good option.
cost is around 22k.
If you need low cost then look for Commax(CDV-1020AQ ) which is also good and in the range of 15 to 18K.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

@CRV2010; Take a look at the various LG models. Go for a 1000 or 1200 rpm one. The latter may be beyond your budget. All LG models come with a 10 year warranty on the direct drive motor. I have never gone for an extended warranty. I have used their washing machine for about a decade and found their service prompt and excellent.

Not much. Basically it decides how the motor speed is controlled. Inverter may have a more precise speed control. It could b also a matter of whether dc or ac motors are used. In practice it may not matter much.

Please share the location details of such vendors in Delhi.

Cheers!

See if you can get a wet and dry system. Most useful to get.

a month back we got wet & dry type eureka forbes vacuum cleaner.
total cost 12k including lifetime maintenance free (in other words, i dont need to do any AMC ever)(yes, they launched this scheme on their Xth anniversary). this offer expired 15 days ago from my purchase but sales person said he has 3 pieces left so gave me one.

results are quite satisfactory.
