@d_himan, @pnredkar
Does this require a stabilizer?
Sales person @Vijay sales in Pune says that it is required. I am planning to buy R-S37SVND.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

Would you buy a maruti car from a dealer because of good sales or because of the brand and its overall strength?

Owner came at 10 am and when asked about the prices, he was not at all bothered to tell the prices of all models and looked not interested at all!!! He just got up and walked off without even bothering to give some respect to genuine customers. This pissed me and my wify and we just walked out of the showroom.

2. Then we checked out Gilma showroom at Basaveshwaranagar and should praise this guy for handling customer beautifully. Will recommend this shop to everybody to have a pleasant experience.

Hope this helps.

If somebody whoever it may be, doesn't show any respect to a genuine customer, do you feel buying in there shop regardless of any self esteem? I'm giving business to them, i may be one of there customers, but treating customers with such behavior doesn't earn any brownie points and definitely purchasing there product.

There have been umpteen examples on this forum itself where people have opted for other brands than Maruti because of arrogant dealer attitude. Don't think it should be any different in this case.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

Need input from those who are using dishwasher. Can we use normal dishwashing liquids like Pril etc.?
If not how costly are the dishwashing liquids and what about their availability?

I would definitely not buy from a dealer who does not have good sales person. If the brand is important then I will shift to another dealer, else look for a better brand, but definitely not the same dealer.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

Folks,

My point is simple - Faber really takes their LTW seriously and their chimneys are good. ONE dealer experience isnt all - the overall brand takes precedence, unless one is dealing with a brand with little presence in his area.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

I am planning to buy a LG F1403YD25 Washer Dryer Combo. I had read the thread where the machine was faulty and a refund was provided and found no other thread about he combo.

Please guide me if it is better to go for this model or purchase separate Washer and Dryers. If separate washer and dryer, then is it safe to keep the dryer on top of the washer. Also, is it necessary to have ventilation for the dryer. The location that I have does not have a ventilation just a drain pipe for the washer.

Not advisable. There are special dishwasher powders. Also, you are likely to need a wetting agent (often called shine, to prevent drying marks), and salt (for the water softener).

Re: The Home Appliance thread

Thanks.
But what about their availability in the market and cost? Are they too costly for daily use? I have no idea - so please suggest.

I am also considering the same model and would appreciate if you can let me now how it is working. What is the time taken for separate Wash and Dry cycles. I assume the 4 hours you mentioned is the total Wash and Dry cycle. Are the clothes 100 dry?

These are available from washing machine vendors, and some supermarkets and are not too expensive. The wetting agent I think is nothing more than Teepol. Sal can also be substituted by rocksalt crystals from the market (difficult to find since legally all salt sold must be iodised). Also, for the shine you can select minimum dozing. I was in a hard water area in the UK as well as here, but had switched by dishwasher to this. No ill effects.

I dishwasher consumes a lot of power (~3kW min) due to the heating for drying. Obviously once you move away from the two legged variety then you have to spend a bit.

I have faced no problems with the machine till date, washes and dries clothes to my satisfaction. Yes the clothes would be dry enough to be folded and kept straight into wardrobes, no need for hanging and drying and stuff. The dryer capacity is only 4 kgs though for 100% efficiency, it reduces if the load is more.

Wash cycles and dry cycles separately is like in any other machine. Shortest cycle is 30 minutes for both I guess but I don't use it. I prefer complete wash and dry cycle by loading 4 kgs and giving it 4 hours everytime, for the sake of convenience. It doesn't need any special ventilation outlets like in dedicated dryers and is very silent during operation. The advantage a separate IFB dryer IMO is an increase in capacity of 1 extra kg.

I am happy with this machine for now, it even costs less than 2 separate units and hence good VFM.

Thanks Anand for your valuable inputs. You cleared my doubts and saved me from a lot of trouble looking for various options. I am inclined towards buying this model 8kg/4kg.
