Wifi Dongle

I use a older version of Compaq presario without Wifi. I saw WiFi dongles on Ebay.com. Has anyone used them? Where can I source them? Ebay.in has only has bluetooth dongles.

You can get Linksys WiFi USB dongle for 1000 bucks locally. Check the local computer store.

Does your Laptop support PCMCIA Cards? If yes, hen I suggest you go in for a PCMCIA card from Linksys (around 1800) or NetGear (around 1600). My preference would be Linksys as they are flawless.

USB ones are ok but are limited in range and a headache to diagnose at times.

I bought my Netgear last week for 2500. It should be cheaper if you go to store yourself. I asked my isp provider to send me one as i was too busy (read lazy) to go to store.

I agree. Go for the PCMCIA if possible because then you dont have something hanging off your computer as well.

Spadival, Linksys WRT54G - Rs 2,750/- Dlink- Rs 2,450/- if i remember correct.

I would prefer the USB ones because these can be used with desktops too..I have an Airlink USB dongle which i baught from US ..it work great for me..i always keep my desktop on and download movies from the internet...I have faced no problems with the speed or range..

In routers go for Linksys..make sure you get the one with latest firmware...check the website for the updates...
