Is this the reason why Linkin Park songs are unavailable? Till recently I was using Spotify in the UK, as soon as it was launched in India I took up the annual subscription and all LP songs that I had in my playlists disappeared.
I hope this kerfuffle with Warner music ends soon.

Yes. I'm eagerly waiting for this issue to get resolved soon. My international plan is due for renewal by end of this month. Hope this gets resolved by ASAP.

Also on a side note, YouTube music app launched in India as well. Good times!

Youtube Music & Premium debuts in India. Haven't tried it out yet. Hopefully, someone who has already used it can review it here ?

I kinda like Spotify. They have a nice selection. The only problem(which is big) is that when I listen the songs on my Punto through Spotify the volume output becomes lesser when compared to the likes of Apple music, Amazon and even the latest YT music. I need to crank up the volume to listen.

Re: Spotify can now be officially accessed in India

How is the audio quality for Spotify Premium when you compare with Apple Music (with high quality enabled)?

Audio quality does not sound great in my short experience, so not sure if its worth.

I do not seem to have this issue in my car.. I have a Punto as well, using Pioneer HU.

Audio quality is excellent. I use it with my 5.1 system it sounds great via Spotify app for Samsung TV & also via Chromecast.

Apple music I will need to use Bluetooth which is not optimal in comparison. However, I find both services very good on quality. Apple music does not have app for my TV and does not support Chromecast which limits my usage. Also the app on Android is not as smooth as Spotify.

I signed up on day 1 and had posted in the streaming services thread. Streaming services (Your favourite streaming music service (radio)?)

So, why did I sign up? Very simply to enjoy the full bouquet of offerings from Google which at Rs 139/mth is IMHO very decent compared to the $10 US subscribers pay for the very same service. Of course, I cancelled my GPM subscription as this is included automatically with YT premium.

I have even subscribed to Deezer, Tidal, for HiFi (lossless streaming), have Qobuz, a highly spoken off service in the world of "audiophools", in my target now. The audio quality is amazing as it ought to be. It's like hearing a compressed track (MP3/AAC/Ogg Vorbis) and then switching to lossless (FLAC). But these are really really expensive compared to what we pay here.

We in India have never had it so good when it comes to streaming services.

Not faced issues even when travelling on the NH4 across State boundaries. Make sure volume levelling is on but this reduces dynamic range.

I find Spotify Ogg Vorbis @320 kbps best of all streaming radio services although Apple's AAC streaming is supposed to be technically better. Google streams at 320 kbps MP3 when set to high quality.

Re: Spotify can now be officially accessed in India

Spotify India catalogue does not have access to some of my favourite bands like Greenday and Linkin Park.

Both are available on google play music. Many hindi titles are also missing.

I have subscribed for one month but won't renew as compared to google play the content on Spotify is not up to my liking.

Re: Spotify can now be officially accessed in India

Bad news for Hindi music lovers on Spotify. Saregama's catalogue to be removed - link.

Quote:
Spotify told the Delhi High Court on Tuesday it will remove all content that belongs to Indian music label Saregama from its platform within 10 days, reports Bar And Bench (see order copy). Saregama had been in talks with Spotify and had given it the copyright for its library a month before Spotify launched in India in late February. But the companies failed to finalize a licensing agreement; Saregama approached the high court to restrain Spotify from using its content. Spotify said it did not consider Saregama’s petition to be adversarial and said it would delete the company’s content by May 3rd. The case will next be heard on May 7th. Its worth noting that Spotify already cannot stream music from global music giant Warner due to ongoing litigation, it will now remove all artists signed with Saregama Music.

Damn!! This ain't good at all. Not agreement with Warner and now Saregama too. Does not bode well for Spotify India. Would be a shame a world player cannot crack the Indian market.

Re: Spotify can now be officially accessed in India

Have been fan of digital music all along for convenience over vinyls/analogue although I have both setup. I am presently using TIDAL family subscription shared with 4 other members so that per head per month is 6 USD.

I like the convenience over streaming from my own wave collection stored in my home NAS. It is also great for discovering new kind of music and I like that too. I am listening using Allo Digione / Raspberry Pi / Volumio (low cost diy streamer) combo which limits the resolution to 24/88.2 only and hence MQA cannot be played at original bitdepth and sampling rate. But in several Audio Meets with other fellow members of another forum related to hi fi audio it has been observed that actual Flav/wav files in back to back comparison outperforms TIDAL and also it's output volume is less than playing actual files. Tidal is somewhere attenuating the output signal even if they call it lossless.

But then again the convenience matters to and it is why I have still retained It. On mobile app it plays well for Android ( have to directly install the APK as it's not in Indian playstore) but the streaming is sluggish as there has some preload time. But most disappointing part us while on 4g it works fine, if you are driving it gets stuck. So I had to drop the idea of a car Tidal streamer that I had planned using Raspberry Pi powered with car 12v usb charger or a power bank connected via usb to a roster ODAC (Objective DaC) that I have and connected via WiFi to my mobile Hotspot. Mobile 4g on the move is still unreliable in India.

Anyway like it's said previously that only sign-up require VPN and thereafter no VPN it is true and I am using that way. If someone is fine with running VPN all the time, turkish tidal accounts via turkish VPN is the one with cheapest monthly subscription rate, individual may cost 300 rupees a month.

While tidal is my preference for lossless streaming service with good Indian collection, otherwise Apple music is my second choice in terms of quality even if not lossless. The compression of Apple music is one of the best and hence the quality even if lossy.

Re: Spotify can now be officially accessed in India

Google Play Music is INR 99/- per month and Amazon Music is little more cheaper than Google Play Music.
I find Google Play Music ot be the best fit for my needs, it works so well with the Android Auto in my car, especially how it responds to the the voice commands I throw at it. Other apps are also supported in AA but Play music has the best integration.

Re: Spotify can now be officially accessed in India

Off topic but Big Daddy Amazon has started HD (lossless) music streaming services in the US, Germany, Japan and UK. Their subscriptions are lower than the likes of Tidal Deezer and of course Qobuz.

Can't wait for them to introduce it in India.
