Another thing is the 16:9 aspect ratio of the LCD vs 4:3 for the CRT which makes the 32" LCD's look tiny in comparison to the 29" CRT.

Any views on Samsung LA40C650?

good luck

@ Volkman congrats & how much did u pay for the 6 LED?
raihan - I did get it from Dubai during the shopping festival last week. It came with the blue ray( Panasonic) and HDMI cable. Total came to 65,000 INR including customs clearance here (guess you got to talk your way out on the duty part!)

Gosh! LCD prices have tanked since the last time I checked. Needed a cheap LCD for an extra room. Vijay sales had a 24" Toshiba for 14,900. They made the deal sweeter by taking an ol' junk TV of mine for 3k.

Net outflow = Rs 11,900 with 3 years warranty. The picture clarity is decent too. I was left stunned after seeing the latest prices of TVs. The last CRT we bought for the holiday home was more expensive!!

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Finally settled for Samsung 5 series LED. Cost me 40K. This one is DLNA and wireless ready which was a criteria for me. Went for extended (replacement) warranty for 3490 and trying to negotiate a price for my LG Flatron 1200.

BTW I just love the DLNA feature, I just connected the TV to my modem and I have all my media (two laptops) available on TV.

Will have to wait for a few more months to add the home theatre, will probably go for the wireless ready one. I am loving it!!

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

raihan: Just yday, I picked up Samsung LA40C650 from CROMA (avoid ezone). We were contemplating Sony EX400 (40) but the looks were way too conventional. The grey bottom strip was too tacky. Cost 69,900/- here in Mumbai
Then the guy on floor showed me Samsung LA40C650 (Rs 74,499) & once we (my better half indeed) had made up our minds, I casually asked the guy for some discounts & believe me (& I actually mean you believe me) gave me flat discount of 6K so I have a better LCD TV with much more features at almost the cost of dated looking Sony.
The most salient feature is its 220 fps function (something like that!!) that makes watching Fast & Furious a real treat. Other goodies are clearly mentioned in here.
An easier way to live a Full HD life - LA40C650 - LCD TV - Television | SAMSUNG=
I whole heartedly advise that you can go for Samsung LA40C650 as its BEST option available below 75K. Do negotiate..
I didn't want the display unit form showroom so will be picking mine from CROMA godown in 3/4 days, that is as soonest the lot arrives from their factory (Just to make sure that I get the freshest piece).

Raab Rakha.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Hi,

What is best way to order and get a TV delivered to the doorstep without visiting the shop. I'm currently out of India and looking to gift a TV for family. Devi Electronics Bangalore, used to home deliver and collect checks at the time of delivery if we talk to Niranjan, the sales manager. Is that option still on? Many folks including me have availed this when PV80 was a rage :-)

thanks for any advice...

smilyinblue: Try TOSHIBA (40") brand.
Is there HYPERCITY mall in Hyderabad?
During our TV hunting we found TOSHIBA LCD's at Hypercity-Mumbai at very reasonable prices. Even PANASONIC Plasma (40") was quite good.
Avoid VU, not much fan of LG too.

@ ariesonu:
Congratulations on your purchase. Sammy 40C650 is a good choice.
Can you give me some indicative price for 40C630 in croma.

I am not interested in plasma. Will visit Inorbit mall this week.. Will checkout Toshiba there.

My observation is that samsungs are marked cheaper in electronics4u than in chroma. Chroma marks LG cheaper for whatever reasons. I have also observed that one can negotiate for upto 10-13% discount when you buy at the month end (may not be a general trend but I guess it may be due to sales targets etc.)

Checkout my post in previous page regarding C630 & C650. I bought a new 40C650 for 60k in Bangalore at Girias.... along with a free dinner set + other small gift.
Minus 2.5% discount by credit card company.
So net price paid = 58,500 INR. If anyone has got it cheaper pl let me know

@ ariesonu: Good purchase . I already purchased a brand new Samsung 40C650, did you notice that you paid 10K more than me for the same?

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Friends, I need to buy the following:-
one each of 55", 42", 32" for my new house.
Usage is not too much. 55 or 60" is for my living room to be used max 3 hours a day for 250 days a year, and the other 2 are for the bedrooms to be used maybe 2 hours a day for 200 days a year.
the rooms are all well lit, I am inclined for a plasma for the big one and open for a LED or LCD for the other 2.
Please let me know the best options. Please dont ask me technical questions as I am not well aversed with electronics.
Would surely want a HT with the big screen.
Distances in the bedrooms are 10ft away and in the living room is 15/18 ft away from the screens.
I keep forgeting the real difference between the plasma/LED/LCD except I have been using the Plasma very Happily and am not happy with the lcd in my bedroom because of the limited viewing angle.

Guess you should go to LED in all rooms. You should plasma from your list, info and differences are listed in the earlier threads.

Cheers,
