Guys - does anyone know how to remove the Tata Sky Logo using some hack. My parents mostly watch tv on the dth and they can't be bothered with zooming in the picture settings on the plasma :-p I am still in the first 200 hours of use and don't wanna risk it.

I didnt used any slides,or hacked the tata sky logo and the tv is as good as new as it was on day one. So you can lose the sweat for a while and enjoy it

P.S- The only thing i did was using it at lower brightness,color etc settings for around two weeks.

yeah i am on recommended calibrated settings for my specific model and generally the settings which give a good pic don't cause a burn in its the high contrast showroom mode which does!

For first few months I used -

Mode : NORMAL
Contrast: 40-44 whichever suits your taste
Brightness: 0
Sharpness: 25
Colour: 35
Tint: 0

while watching SD telecast from 6-feet distance within moderate lit room and no direct light/window opposite to screen-

increasing Sharpness, look on white color patch in Picture. It should be pale white and not flickering or flashing.
Color setting - color red, and yellow must not look noisy
Sharpness - decrease it it 0 and increase it slowly till look some border-noise at letter, curves and channel logos. Keep level below that.
For brightness - after 1 year still I felt 0 is okay for watching at my ambiance. Look at your place.

These are from a professional calibrator and consider best for the samsung 5 series panel. I found these settings to be best for my viewing. Posted here for reference again :-)

@Arin -I would suggest Samsung, you can opt for Series 5 if you are interested in Full HD (1080p) or the series 4. It would depend on what is the main source for the TV, ie Bluray, cable, PS3. Both these models let you play various digital formats (avi, mp4..) so you are good to go.

Hi,
I've bought an sony LCD, klv-22bx300 and a stabilizer from V-Guard, Mini crystal.
But the thing is i've heard people say that Sony LCDs life span is around 1.5 years after than they go kaput and need to replace panels which cost Rs.12K!!!
Is there any more i need to do to save the panels from going kaput.

Not much can be done after you have bough the TV. Just buy additional warranty if Sony sells it.

I got a Panasonic 42V20D Plasma. Cost 65k. Warranty reduced to 1 year.

Presently I have cable and am awaiting TataSky HD boxes.

I need to buy an UPS for the TV. We have a DG backup in our building and at minimum load levels I expect spikes when there is a changeover.

I went looking for APC, APC Back UPS BR600-IN? Any suggestions to this one?

Used this logic while buying a display for my folks.

The Samsung c450 is great VFM, I got a quote for about 40500/- but had already settled for the Panny x20 by this time.

If you plan on doing a lot of static viewing go for LCD.

Thats one really dreamy Plasma, was too much of a bduget stretch in our case. Why the reduced warranty? Is it due to it being a 2011 purchase?

Also Tata Sky HD box is like searching for an ice cube in a volcano. Apparently they stopped supplying retailers boxes 3 months ago and there is no commitment on when they will ship again.

There's rumour about a Tata sky PVR box for 8k + but at three times the price whats the point?

Thanks. Yeah performs quite well. I don't watch much TV (other then cricket,F1 and MotoGp) but do watch downloaded BBC HD Top Gear content. The Pole episode is simply awesome on this TV.

No idea. They said warranty is only for 1 year. Checked the manual says 1 year.

WHOA!! And they don't mind the competition taking over? Airtel has them in stock but TataSky is the least complicated of the providers to select what you want to watch and pay.

I tried making sense of Airtel plans and gave up approx in 3 mins.

Check the output wattage provided by the UPS. It should be higher then what is required by your TV. Since the UPS time required would be a few seconds (DG changeover) dont bother about the period of UPS available. You can always switch the TV off if the changeover fails.

The P42V20D takes 350W. Not sure about the X series.

Which showroom was this? I think the C450 was around 33-35K right? 40K seems to be too high.

And the MRP in Samsung site says Rs.35K.
