The PV8 is the old model.. Get the C10. Also the C10 comes with 3 yrs warranty. I have the PV8 and a couple of my friends got the C10 now... The picture looks even better. We got it here for 40K but another friend got it for way lesser than that. Shop around and you should get a great deal. Its the best bargain in town for a 42" HDTV.

Panasonic S10 in 50" plasmas is perenially not available in Hyderabad. My pal wanted to buy one in December, and got put off when he was told that it would take a month.
He again inquired last week and the same story was repeated by Panasonic showrooms. Finally he bought a 42" S10 for 61000 ---seems to be a great price, considering that it is a full HD model.

I do remember seeing that in Pune 3 - 4 months back for 65K (the 42" model). Alas, I've bought a 32" LCD last oct. So no more TVs till 2015 I guess.

Brought a C10 42 from Brandshop for 40 K. Picked late evening last friday. They told they will deliver the next day as it was quite late. Was not in a mood to wait for one more day. We took it with us. We do not require a wall mounting so installation was simple. Enjoying it since then. Tatasky seems good. Did not got a chance to watch a good DVD. Perhaps this weekend.

Thanks for every body in the thread as this was my only reference for the purchase

Hi,
Thinking to gift Parents a 32 inch LCD.
visited a nearby showroom and saw this Videocon LCD- Consumer Electronics >> Television >> LCD TV >> Platinum - VLL32FBA

Cost will be 27-28k.
Watched a bit of match on this with tata sky and really liked it.

Am absolutely naive when it comes to lcd/plasma so can someone with knowledge check out the features and suggest if this will be a good buy?

Also any other lcd suggestions within 30k range are welcomed.
Criteria-
1.- Full HD.
2.- Around 30k
3.- Good dynamic contrast ratio.
4.- Reliable.

Also saw Onida, panasonic and LG. Panasonic looked quiet dull in full HD with all comparisons.
Onida was quiet impressive and price was 33k. No idea about Onida LCD's so kindly help!

EDIT- Videocon one doesn't have a USB slot so will that be a big miss?

I went to Panasonic brand shop and the below are the quotes they gave after lot of bargaining. All have 3 year warranty.
C10 39.5k
S10 56k
they have 2 year 0% interest finance options. S10 @ 56k is a very good price and is really tempting. Now am really confused whether to go with PV8 (32k) C10 or S10.
Does PV8 come with one year warranty? does the box pack include wall mount or do we have to buy separately?

You need to decide based on your Parents usage.
If they are going to see only satellite TV full HD is not a necessity.
You can go for a HD ready from Sony or any other reputed international brand. My friend recently bought a Sony 32 inch (model no.32S550) for 31k which has a BE3 upscaling engine and hence satellite TV looks much better on it than comparable 32 inchers in the 30 k price range.

If they are going to watch Bluray and similar HD content go for a FullHD TV.

Go for the C-10 as it comes with a 3-year warranty. The PV 8 came with only a 1-year warranty for me. I got the wall mount along with the set, but I paid 60 K for it 2 years ago, when the going rate was 69 K.

Bought one for 29k at eZone chennai. PQ is very good but black levels are pathetic. Philips 5409 is way better than it.

Its a VFM TV. Quality wise I would go with Philips. Honestly, in 32 inch you wont a difference between FHD and HD Ready. We have discussed this many times. My vote is for philips its full hd and very very good pQ and also plays avi, etc through the USB port.

@madbullram- Thanks for the info.
However the priority has changed!

Went to Croma and my friends have suggested me to get a 42 inch screen so Plasma and Lcd both are in contention.

All are 42 inches-
Getting a Samsung LA 550 for 52k. Its a full HD lcd. Good deal?
getting a LGLF20FR for 50700. Full Hd. Good deal?
Getting a LG PQ70 for 45500. Hd ready. Good deal?
These are at croma.

Getting a Panasonic Plasma C10 For 39 or 40k from panasonic shop. Good deal?
Also checked the S10 Plasma but forgot the price so will check again tommorow.

Am confused whether to get Plasma or LCD in 42 inches and which one to go for.
Please help!!!

Edit- Also in 42 inches does HD ready or Full hd makes any difference?

My vote will be for a Full HD, IPS LCD Panel anyday and nothing less. If you are going to listen to the for and against verbal clash, you are sure to get more and more confused.
