My LG Jazz 32" has a yellow line at the bottom of the screen (similar to CRT TVs color imbalance whihc appears when moved).

Called up customer care yesterday and the engineer came home few minutes back.
The LCD Panel will be replaced under warranty now! Luckily, It appeared under warranty period.
I am taking up extended warranty immediately!

NEEDED: Someone COMPETENT enough to repair LCD Tvs in Mumbai?

I have been facing problems with my Sony Bravia KLW-350A since a week or two. Pictures are washed out, blacks are smudged and mixed with other colours, and the entire thing NOW looks like an xray image.
What is happening with my TV?
Also, the TV takes EONS to start (since the first month itself, after which the Sony fella JUST did a reset and went away ) I need to 'kick'start the tv by pressing the channel button again and again.
Also, the LED blinks 3 times when this is happening (tv not starting from standby)
Sony fellas came and only the power issue happened that time. So all they did was to diagnose that the power supply was spoilt. AND ASKED FOR rs. 10000 for the same!
Someone please help diagnose the issue PLUS I also need someone to guid me to a nice, skilled and competent technician in Mumbai where I can give him the TV for a good job!

Pics and a video.

Perhaps you can open a diagnostic centre and cover your costs in a week. On a different note, there was the earlier SONY, but that has changed. I last bought a SONY in 2005, and am totally displeased with the lack of durability in most of their consumer electronics.

Hi guys,
After a lot of thought, I am thinking that instead of 32 inches LCD that I was contemplating earlier I might jump into 42 inches plasma. I have my eyes set on the LG 42 inches PQ70 model, but am also open to PV80 if it is better. I have just a few queries
1) Is Plasma good enough for my game console (I have a Wii and play a lot including racing and action games too)
2) How much is the additional cost in electricity should I expect after I buy this. Currently I get a monthly bill of around 800. Will it double. My viewing time would be approx 5-6 hrs daily.
3) What is the latest price of (has anyone recently bought) LG 42PQ70.

I am actually targeting this Diwali for some good sales, so guys let me know if you get some details on this. Thanks for such a valuable thread :-)

@simonkayar,
Did you try the VU LCDs. In my opinion they are as good as the LGs with at least 30% less cost. So you might be able to afford a 40 or 42 inch VU, which might be exorbitantly priced for Samsung or LG. If you are in Mumbai, VU will be available in all Croma outlets or its own showrooms near Malad.
I have bought one and no regrets. The LCD panel is anyways manufactured by Sharp.

Although you can play games on Plasma, but LCD would be better option for gaming.
Power consumption will be about 150-180 W for LCD against 220-250W for Plasma (even more in some cases)

Coming to PQ70 and PV80, PQ70 has more glair issue (due to glossy screen)
But I felt PQ70 is more VFM and hardly any difference in Picture quality.
So take your pick and all the best!

Thanks Seeler, I will have a look at VU also.
Has anyone actually tried playing games with a plasma TV (particularly PQ70). That is very critical to me. If like Vishal says Plasma are not good for gaming then I will look only at LCDs may be a 32 inches from Samsung (40+ inches LCD is out of budget).

2 LCDs in my house went bust this monsoon, the effects of living on the sea front !

Got the Hitachi Plasma repaired from Paras electronics for 11k ! Now the second Sharp LCD has a similar problem, the board has gone kaput, have given it to a repair center but they aren't able to fix it and would need to order the part which might cost 10-20k !

Does anyone know of a reliable LCD repair center or provide me with Sharps repair center number in Mumbai. If all fails I will probably have to go back to Paras who are pretty steep !

@simonkayar, I own the combo of a 42PQ70 + an Xbox360 and do play a few games. Apart from the glare (I have thick curtains so no problem) there is no issue with playing games. AFAIK, the Wii can only output 480p, so you might not see a great difference in PQ with the Wii, apart from the larger screen of course. Pack up your Wii and go test it at the showroom, is what I would suggest.

Its not that you cannot use Plasma for gaming, but you got to be very careful with keeping it on (with static images) for very long. After all Plasma are prone to Burn-in ...even though it is reduced to great extent
