Its very easy though. Write an application, attach a copy of latest bill. make a Xerox of each and submit. Get a reciept on the xerox copy and keep it safely. It will be changed within a month.

As far as second query is concerned you are completely confused with wifi and router.
Thanks SirAlec. I will have to pull some strings I guess cos i want it changed in a week.

Regarding the 2nd query, Lets just call it a wireless modem.

So I opted and it does well since January 2007. Yes! for plan change you have to go. Try to apply on line also. I did but it did not work. So I went myself.
Thank you very much sir. I guess i will get the wireless modem from them then. But until i get it (I assume it will take a while cos i have the normal one now) can I use any other one, like the one I got from Airtel, with that connection?

H Shammy Boy,

Once you apply and when they come for installation they will come with modem. They will try to give you the ordinary modem. You just tell that you want Wifi Modem so you pay for annual payment. They need revenue so they will give with in no time, I heard that the price of BSNL Wireless Modem has come down to just1600. I am not sure whether your existing modem will work with BSNL or Not. Her there are 2 departments are involved. 1 Customer Care for Booking and the next one is Exchange people. They are the people who is supposed to come with modem.

To day I happened to go towards BSNL CCC. I worked out the difference of Home 500 and the UL750 plus. FDinally decided to change to UL750 plus advantages as follows.

Home 500 UL 750 plus.

Rent Annual 5000 Annual rent 7500.00
B Fone 525 X12 6300 Rent free 000

Advantage
Free Calss 300X12 = 3600 No Rent No free Call

Total Net payment 11300-3600=7700 Net Payment 7500
Disadvantage Limited to 2.5 GB
There is chance of exceeding G.B bill Unlimited No Chance of Penalty.Forexcess
Usage,

Better go for Unlimited UL 750 rather than Limited Home 500

IMHO 750UL is not a good plan, unless you have plenty of time.

My previous month bband usage is as follows (my plan is Home500),

Total volume Downloaded (MB) : 53423.923
Total Duration : 139:02:53
Chargebale units (MB) excluding Night unlimited : 2464.67

If I am using 750UL i'll need 8 times more time for the same usage.
ie, 139X8=1112 Hrs.
will anyone recommend that?

which means you barely managed to fit into the 2.5gb limit. If this sort of usage works out for you, then great. But I always would recommend going in for an unlimited plan.

why is time a factor for you? you could use as much as you want, when you want it.

Thats not the main reason 750UL plus tax is not advisable, if you are a torrent or P2p freak.

in this plan DL is capped. thats why i have opted for 500 combo rent free plan. i get a fixed bill of 560/- plus DL is totally free at night.

Hi

I too was proud of the Home 500 till last month. In broad band it is not You use or not once you switch on the modem it is counted. If you keep a site open and keep it is running the usage bites. I did not use much except teamBHP browsing, and my Mails. It was fine for the past 2 years. It seems last month when I went for tour unknowingly I left the modem on with my mail site on. There came 1.3GB More and the bill was 912. In that situation it is bitten. O.K I know that the Unlimited night free that is after 2.00 amd to 8 am. Just for free an old man cannot awake and spoil the health. In Chennai I did not fine UL 750 is with 32bites down load. I don't find any slow down load. Even the HOME 500 is most of the time comes in 400kbps speed only. Even if UL750 comes with 256 kbps also not bad rather than paying big amount.

Even mine is BSNL Home UL 750+ [Combi] plan. After 20% discount for Govt. staff, I pay Rs 600+call charges+tax per month. The speed: download 0.25 Mb/s and upload 0.55 Mb/s [as per speedtest.net]. It serves my purpose and I am happy about it.

IMHO, Time is factor because we all live in busy world, and who wants to be 8 times slower than the normal speed

I agree to that, browsing in night is not recommended for health and if you do exceed the free usage limit frequently an UL connection is necessary. In that case why are you going for the 750UL?, there are other plans or may you could choose other ISPs.

Isnt the UL 750 limited to 256kbps?

I think the download speed is somewhere in the range of 30-32 kBps. Theoretically the 500c connection can download twice the data (in 6 hrs) that UL 750 can download(in 24hrs). For torrent freaks the 500C would be a better plan. High bandwidth site like youtube and stuff will drain away your usage limits.

Good debate is going on UL 750. Let it go on no matter. In my case an old man of 62 cannot do P2P and the YOu tube etc. My purpose is to check mail. Read news. Do some references and of course some hours of Team BHP. Yes, time is precious for young energetic peoples. But it is toooooooooooo long for the retired people like us. So we are bound to be bit slow as well as money (budget) conscious and not the time. Slow speed kills the idle time.Hope the debater on the other side understand my points from my view and no objection of continuing the debate on others view. For me this is the best.
