WATCH OUT IF YOU SURRENDER YOUR BroadBand

It is common practice for BSNL to disconnect your phone as well, if you surrender the broadband. I surrendered the broadband clearly stating that the phone was NOT being surrendered. After a month and a half the phone went dead (engaged tone) and was not fixed. So called up the manual complaints and was told that it has most probably been disconnected. I asked why, and the lady said that probably you surrendered the broadband, and gave me the number of the JE. I called it up and the lady confirmed the disconnection. I was further told that I can get a new number but the old number will take about a month. I said what nonsense, that I have to suffer for your incompetence. She said at least 8 days. Using my contacts I got it restored within four hours. The reason I am told is that a new number is easy, they will just report that the customer wanted a new number, but for the old number they will have to explain.

The nonchalant way they talked makes it obvious that disconnection when broadband is surrendered is a very common (one may say normal) practice.

Suffering from the pathetic customer service of BSNL for long, I dumped the Broadband & Landline last month!

My landline & BB was dead for more than a month, registered numerous complaints, met several Senior officers, apart from assurances, I didn't get anything!

BSNL is digging its own grave fast & quick!
It is high time Govt takes some drastic action & salvages what is left now!

OR these parasites should allow private 3G players to start operation so we get rid of so called monopoly they have in broadband, In my town they don't allow pvt. providers to run more than 256-516 kbps, cause then who would go for bsnl.

^^^ I don't think there is any such law that allows them to limit the bandwidth supplied by private operators? On what basis are they controlling them, according to you?

One thing they can control to regulate speed is the Contention ratio. For BSNL its 50:1 for other privater ISPs it somewhere near 20:1 to 30:1.

Bsnl Gprs

Since past one month, BSNL GPRS connection has stopped working for me. I have been using this for more than 2 years, but now it has started saying "modem disconnected", whenever I try to connect. I have not changed any settings. Anyone has idea of the working settings for BSNL GPRS users in Bangalore / Karnataka? My settings are below:

access point name: gprssouth.cellone.in
user name: 944xxxxx (my mobile number)
password: 944xxxxx (same as mobile number)

I tried adding 91 to the above which didnt work.

The settings have changed I am not sure about APN but try using user name/password as blank. If it doesn't work get in touch with local guru (cellphone sellers) Yep ! They are faster than BSNL

cheers

- I can feel your frustation

If this keeps happening every now & then, call up the cust (un)care & note down the ticket number, with date & time.

Finally when you made the count to 3 or more, shoot an email to the world of BSNL right from GM, territory manager, area manager, DE, SDE, state your complaint including the complaint number, date & time.

Trust me, your issues will be resolved soon

In such case, I go directly to my telephone exchange and speak to the Assistant Engineer. Report the problem in a measured but straight tone, works for me everytime
