Samsung watch4 makes a perfect vfm sense here. Also I'm confused between Bluetooth and LTE option - which to go for.

Do share your update (in case you decided).
I went ahead with Amazefit GTS 4 Mini. Cost me 8K but I think you will get for 5-5.5K tmrw for Amazon prime day.

Talked to a friend who had Samsung watch 4. He is not happy. Accuracy although better than Amazefit is nowhere near Garmin. And he gets max 1.5 days battery backup. He charges at night everyday it seems.
That made me decide on Amazefit. I just didnt want to have one more electronic device tracked in terms of charging requirements.

Coming to the device. Got delivered on 30th June evening. Charged to 100% and started using on 1st of July. Have not charged till date and right now it's at 22%. 14 days for 78% is damn good I would say. I wear it as soon as I wake up and it's pretty much on my wrist throughout the day. Other big advantage is that now I don't need to carry my mobile everywhere. The GPS works very well in this.

In terms of accuracy, I run thrice a week out of which 2 are tracked with respect to distance. I use strava and this matches strava on 99.5% accuracy. Only steps walking I felt it's having a error of 2-3%. I am quite ok with these minor variations. I have to confess I have not spent much time on other features like
Heart rate, oxygen, stress rates etc. I used it while sleeping for few days and it gave lots of statistics which I don't know how to interpret

All in all, I am super happy with the purchase decision after 15 days. I want to get used to this for now and once i am super comfortable, I'll think of garmin. Long term review hopefully will come post 6 months.

PS: Another added bonus is it keeps on giving me alert throughtout the day asking me to take a walk if I have been sitting for too long. Lots of small milestone achievements like steps, standing hours, calorie target gives a smile to your face.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Any owners of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4/5 LTE (eSIM) here ?

Need to know following:

1. General experience and feedback of eSIM enabled smartwatch (calling/receiving calls etc)

2. Any specific concern of using an eSIM in the smartwatch and physical SIM in the mobile phone ? Any extra data charges/plan charges by the carrier (Airtel) ?

3. Any health concerns of using an LTE smartwatch ? Perhaps something related to EMF device right on the wrist ?

Don't know about 3 but bought & using the Galaxy 5 Lte. Installed the jio esim & its working great both with & without the phone in proximity. Calls, sms, whatsapp everything works smoothly.
Haven't been charged anything extra by jio & using esim both on my S22 ultra & the watch.

Thanks for your response. I was not talking about 3, but Galaxy Watch 4 LTE.

By the way, I got a very sweet deal on the Galaxy 4 LTE, that too on the 4.4 cm variant, at just INR 11699 after all discounts.

The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread-capture.jpg

How is the deal ? How can I enable ECG and BP monitor, any third party process guide ?

Lasts the entire day at best. Works for me as I love the convenience of leaving behind the phone for runs/ gym etc.
Search youtube for the blood pressure working. Don't think I'm allowed to post here & couldn't dm either. Worked successfully for me, not sure of accuracy.

Galaxy Watch 4 4.4mm LTE (eSIM) is still available at 12999 (and additional card discount of Rs. 1300 - 1500 ) on FlipKart.

FYI, Galaxy Watch 4 4.4mm LTE normal selling price on Amazon is around 19k.

11.5k for 4.4mm LTE version is a steal , considering that Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 don't have much difference!

Well, I am using the combo of S22 Ultra, Galaxy Watch 4 LTE with Airtel eSIM and Galaxy Buds Live.

General experience is quite good, you can easily leave your phone at home and use Watch + Buds combo for running or workout. One thing i felt missing was Google Pay, but i guess NFC is not allowed yet in our country.
Watch battery lasts about 1.5 days, there are tons of videos on YT on maximising battery.

No additional charges on AirTel, felt convenient though. Even Maps works without phone now. So you get Fitness tracking, Music, Maps, BP monitoring & calls all together. You can easily leave your phone at home unless for digital payments.

I usually remove the watch and switch it off in the evening to keep it away. Not sure about any EMF related concerns.

Hey thanks for those inputs.

I have received the watch(watch 4 4.4mm LTE) yesterday and paired the eSIM seamlessly via the Wearables app on my S21 FE with the Airtel postpaid connection.

However, I tried using Google Maps, it asked me to connect/sync with phone. I was expecting that Googla Maps navigation be used independantly of the phone.

Also, I could not find Whatsapp on the play store.

Any suggestions ?

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

I am using Galaxy watch 4, the issue is battery that needs charging 3-4 times in a week, even with battery saving mode. watch 5 has improved battery life.

Congrats on your new watch.

BTW, have you installed all the updates, i mean both Wear OS and Google Maps update. As i remember Google provided independant navigation via an update, it wasn't working when i got the watch last year.

Whatsapp for Wear OS is still in beta version, as i know.

Amazfit gts has multi band gps. So in theory should have way better accuracy than the entry level garmins and galaxy watches.

Thanks for sharing this. Got myself a GW4 LTE yesterday and have been able to pair with my S20FE. Still to explore a lot more on the features of the watch but taking it slow for now. If it wasn't for your post, I most probably would have gone for the BT model via Samsung website (at a price of 10k).

Before anything else, I would recommened you update the software. I did that yesterday after gypsyFreak's post, and now the Google maps native support is enabled.
