Buy the latest Mi band 6 / Amazfit Bip and use the app to share data with Strava.

Your friend can follow you on strava to keep track of your progress.

Thanks for the suggestions I googled them and was wondering if there are any more minimalist or smaller options I remember I had a fitbit that Dad got me from abroad more than a decade ago and it looked so cute like one tiny little object was wondering if there's anything similar not interested in some blobby colour display as such. Also what is strava? Is it linkable with any activity tracker?

If your purpose is basic fitness tracking, you may just want to buy an armband and keep your mobile inside it for basic fitness tracking using any free app.

I have used Strava app free version maybe a decade back, with mobile in my pocket. I have also seen some people using mobile in the armband for tracking their activity.

Strava is the Instagram of sweaty people.

The way my watch is set up, my activities get posted to my Strava profile as soon as I end my workout on my Amazfit watch. The watch syncs the data with Zepp app via Bluetooth. Zepp app syncs automatically to Google Fit and Strava. Strava is much better at social features as compared to Google Fit. It is also near universally supported by all Fitness trackers and a legit place to find like minded people around you.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Wanted to share positive feedback about Fitbit support. The band on my Charge 4 broke exactly a month after the warranty got over. I mailed their customer care about repair options and after verifying some details and the photos of the damage, they sent me a replacement, free of cost, international shipping, and customs, all paid for by them. The best part, since charge 4 is no longer in production, they sent the newer charge 5.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Wanted to provide an update to my search for a dumb fitness tracker. I needed something to track my steps and distance that's it nothing else and I was not comfortable buying a smartwatch which will go obsolete in no time nor was I able to find smart bands that were not too showy with extra screens and all that jazz. Wanted something subtle saw that Amazfit used to make something called the Neo which seemed perfect for me as it looked just like a regular watch but had fitness tracking abilities as well. Unfortunately I found that it has been discontinued. Long story short, I found what I need from Casio of all the brands. It is part of their G-Shock Move line called the GBX-100NS G-Lide just a regular G-Shock square with all the normal functionalities of a digital watch, a really good memory in pixel display, and an accelerometer that helps measure steps and calculate distance. I must say it is quite accurate, one can log run activity very easily and the app is fairly easy to use. Good buy for anyone that needs a basic step tracker but does not want a big oled display on their wrist which will need to be charged regularly.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Does anyone have an experience with Garmin Venu series of watches? Do they have any support in India? Presently using Fitbit Versa 2 but the HR tracker has gone kaput and the watch is also 3+ years old, with no authorized support apparently. I am also looking at Galaxy Watch 5, but I am told Garmin watches have better battery life.

Wife has a Garmin Venu.
Excellent battery life. 5-6 days.
Garmin offers support in Bangalore. They have full and proper shops here. All servicing though, has to be done in Hongkong which is their closest service centre. Consumers have to give it to the Garmin shop and they’ll do the rest.

Got myself the Garmin Venu 2 on 11-Jan from the Garmin Store in HSR, Bangalore for ~40k. They have a service centre right inside the shop.

Claimed battery life is up to 11 days and so far, I've charged it once on 20-Jan. Happy with the product and the numbers it throws up in the app.
The entire reason for going with a Garmin and not an Apple Watch was battery life. Plus, Garmin's Connect App syncs with Apple Health and Fitness Apps.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

I settled for the Galaxy Watch 5, which complements my Galaxy smartphone, Buds pro . Battery life is good enough so far, since I dont wear it throughout the day as such.

I have a Samsung watch that works fine with the LTE feature on jio sim. Ensure that your mobile provider supports eSIM. BSNL, AFAIK, has only limited to nil support. voda / idea is / was a bit behind in some circles. This is 20 month old info. You can ask this query on the "mobile phone connection" thread, for better response. You should look up the 4G bands available on the device and the bands on which your provider operates in India.

It will work if your telecom carrier supports it. Example - Jio supports both prepaid and postpaid but Airtel only supports postpaid for esim pairing with the watch. Better check the respective telco’s website.

Any reviews / suggestions about Realme Watch 3 Pro? Looks good with price and spec sheet. I have good experience with many other products from the brand.

Re: The Fitness Band / Smartwatch Thread

Hello all, for the last few years have been using two watches regularly, my GSHOCK Mudmaster G661 for regular use and Samsung galaxy smart watch for gym/running. However on one of my recent trips, unfortunately the G-Shock was stolen.
Wanted to replace it with the G-Shock GSWH1000 smart watch so I can just use one watch everywhere. However there are no recent reviews online( latest are one year old). Does anyone have hands on experience or reviews of the watch.
Alternatively was thinking to just buy the same Mudmaster, and get a fitness band and wear both together on either hand. ( Either the charge 5 or Garmin vivosmart, as couldn't find a fitness band without a screen) Would that look too wierd though?
Thanks for reading.
